The Jyotish Star – November 2015

Editorial by Vachaspati Christina Collins

Our Jyotish Star of the month is Pandit Sharma Samavedula, interviewed by Christina Collins of Colorado. Panditji is a 6th generation Vedic Pandit, scholar from India, currently residing in California where he is founding a Hindu Temple. In November, he will be opening the Sedona Vedic Astrology Conference in Arizona with a Navagraha puja [9 planet ceremony], explaining the meanings as he performs this ancient ceremony. His first was at the age of 9 years! Panditji will teach a class on the ancient Vedic mantras of the Nakshatras also. Enjoy his interview, he is very busy as well running a school in India and I was lucky to interview him as he was on his way to Japan before he joins us in Sedona!

Dennis Harness, Ph.D. (Dayananda) of Sedona, Arizona (and the host for SVAC (Sedona Vedic Astrology Conference) will be presenting a wonderful lecture on Vedic Astrology and Transpersonal Counseling, and he sent us an article on the same topic for the Jyotish Star this month. This guidance is great for any Jyotishi, whether you are seasoned with years of practice, or just starting out on your journey as an astrologer. Also, if you are a coach, life coach or leader of others in any way, this article is extremely helpful. Enjoy!

Charlotte Benson’s (Jyoti Devi) November article covers the chart of newly elected Prime Minister of Canada, PM Justin Trudeau, the 2nd youngest Prime Minister Canada has elected to date. With her usual sense of humor and gift for writing, you will enjoy her illuminating article.

Planetary news for November centers around the movement of the Sun into Libra with Mercury moving out of exaltation and into Libra, both hemmed between Rahu in Virgo and Saturn in Scorpio in papa ketari yoga. (“sinner scissors”, when a planet transits between two malefic planets). The fortunate support will be the fact that Jupiter continues transiting in Leo, the sign of the Sun, which gives a boost to all things solar.

Next month’s Jyotish Star will be Ronnie Gale Dreyer who recently received her Master’s degree in Sanskrit!

Don’t forget to check out Vedic Venue and learn about the upcoming Jyotish conference in Sedona, I am hoping to meet many of you there who I correspond with but have not yet met!

There are still a few open spots to attend the Sedona Vedic Astrology Conference in mid November (19th to the 23rd), 2015. The email for quick response is Website: Sedona Vedic Astrology Conference.
