Planetary Tips

November 1st to November 30th 2015

by Vachaspati Christina Collins

We begin November with Saturn in Scorpio, Rahu and Ketu finishing their last few months in Virgo and Pisces, and Jupiter in Leo joined by the conjunction of Venus and Mars, both nearing the end of their transit with Jupiter in Leo. Venus will join Jupiter again for a week or so in August of 2016. Mars, however will not be with best friend Jupiter in the sign of Leo again until July of 2027, and for a short week. Mercury transits with the Sun in Libra (the Sun’s sign of debilitation). For a few days, the parivartana yoga between the Sun, and its ruler Venus will cancel the Sun’s debilitation. (a parivartana yoga is when the ruler of a sign exchanges houses with another house ruler – in this case Sun resides in Libra, the sign owned by Venus, and Venus resides in Leo the sign owned by the Sun). This situation is said to strengthen debilitated planets, some even say cancels the debilitation. We must not lose sight of the fact that Sun and Venus are natural enemies, so things may still appear to be out of balance.

A couple of days later, Venus will transit into Virgo. The debilitation sign of Venus. This combination will often be less fortunate. The ruler of the debilitated Sun, is transiting in the 12th (house of loss) from the Sun in debilitation as well. Some relief will be felt by about the 9th of November, when the Venus in the Navamsa will be moving into exaltation in Pisces, and later when the Navamsa Mercury goes into Gemini (own sign) for a couple of days November 16/17 and again when Mercury exalts in the Navamsa November 21st to 23rd. There are other cancelations as well during the month, so if you need a Muhurta or electional chart for November, you still have options. (by the way I will be teaching a 2 hour class on Muhurta in November at the Sedona Vedic Astrology Conference and a 6 hour intensive on Transits and Dasa Timing – hope to see many of you there – 170 people are enrolled and the 30 spots left are filling up!)

Planetary Tips Novemeber 2015 Chart One

November 1 Venus and Mars transit in tight conjunction at 28 degrees. Mars go sandi at 29°00 degrees

November 2 Venus and Mars move to Virgo (for Venus this is debilitation and for Mars, a stay in the sign of an enemy, Mercury’s sign). When this first happens they are sandi at the same time. Mars rules accidents, and Venus is the karaka (significator) for vehicles. Be extremely careful driving and travelling on November 2nd. There is literally a tiny difference. 00.00 and 00.01. Mars aspects the sign posited, the 4th house from there, the 7th house and the 8th house from position. This means he will be aspecting the signs that like to think they are invincible (Sagittarius and Pisces, both Jupiter ruled signs tend to feel no harm will come to them, and sometimes they are right! Depends upon the chart as a whole) and Aries who likes to speed. Posited in Virgo the influence will be to rush more than usually in order to get somewhere in perfect time, or to have to when they get there to look and act perfect!) Even though Saturn no longer aspects Mars (as it did when Mars transited Leo), Mars is still the depositor (ruler) of Scorpio seated Saturn. Perhaps the saving grace is the initial transit of the Moon in Cancer (own sign) who when in an angle from the Libra Sun, cancels debilitation of the Sun temporarily.

Planetary Tips Novemeber 2015 Chart Two

November 12 Mars will reach the degree of Rahu and Ketu. A planet “casts a shadow” so the days prior to exact will feel like pressure building up, then as Mars move over the degree they begin moving away from each other and relief will be felt. We will still likely see further earthquakes on this approach and after. Mars will be in an earth sign Virgo. Saturn will aspect two earth signs, Capricorn and Taurus.

Planetary Tips Novemeber 2015 Chart Three

November 15 the Sun becomes sandi at 29 Libra as it begins to move into Scorpio.

November 16 Mercury becomes sandi at 29 Libra early in the day, and the Sun moves out of debilitation and into Scorpio, the sign of a friend, Mars. Two planets in close sandi degrees (zero or 29) is very weak – again this happens on a Monday, so don’t rush when driving please.

Planetary Tips Novemeber 2015 Chart Four

Late evening Mercury joins the Sun, again sandi and combust.

Planetary Tips Novemeber 2015 Chart Five

Mercury, Sun and Saturn continue in Scorpio for the rest of the month. Rahu Mars and Venus transit together in Virgo until the end of the month when Venus leaves debilitation. One great thing, even though they are enemies (Mars and Mercury) will be exchanging houses in parivartana yoga. Mars in Mercury’s sign of Virgo and Mercury in Mars’ sign Scorpio) this strengthens both!

November 29 Venus becomes sandi at 29 Virgo very early and in late evening moves to Libra

Planetary Tips Novemeber 2015 Chart Six

November 30 Venus in Libra, its own and moolatrikona sign gains a degree and becomes strong – we can express a bit of a sigh of relief. Even so, dear Venus, the planet of love is still hemmed between Saturn and Rahu, though the assist of Mars (a neutral to Venus) is on one side by degree and Mercury, the best friend of Venus is assisting from the other side by degree.

Next month we look forward to the movement of the Sun to Sagittarius, where it will receive the aspect of Jupiter from Leo.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving to our friends in the USA and I hope to see and meet many of you in Sedona in November at the Sedona Vedic Astrology Conference hosted by Dr. Dennis Harness!
