The Jyotish Star November 2015

Editorial by Vachaspati Christina Collins

Our shining Jyotish Star for December is Charlotte Benson (Jyoti Devi) of Phoenix, AZ. Charlotte received the 2015 Jyotish Navaratna title and award this year from ACVA (American Council of Vedic Astrology). This honor happens annually, for one recipient only. I count nine recipients to date and hope that I am not leaving someone out. Chakrapani Ullal, Dennis Harness, Ph.D., William R. Levacy, Ph.D., Gayatri Devi Vasudev, Swami Sitaramananda, Dennis Flaherty, Christina Collins, and Charlotte Benson who received her title and trophy in Sedona at the Sedona Vedic Astrology Conference hosted by Dennis Harness, Ph.D., and Conferred by President William R. Levacy, Ph.D. (ACVA).

Charlotte also wrote an article for us, in the name of the Christmas season on the Three Magi.

Planetary Tips show that the planets continue to war this month with Rahu and Mars still transiting together in Virgo, and we will trade one parivartana yoga of Mars in Virgo with Mercury in Scorpio for Mars in Libra and Venus in Scorpio. Venus will leave debilitation in Virgo for her own sign of Libra, though compromised and hemmed in papaketari by Mars and Saturn. The good news is that the Sun will move into Sagittarius and will receive the aspect of its ruler Jupiter from Leo in the 2nd half of the sidereal month!

Our January issue will be a message from the editor (Christina Collins) with a look goodbye at the events of 2015 and a look hello at 2016 planetary movements and outlook for the coming year. We will also announce the 2016 recipient of the Jyotish Vashista title to a Vedic astrology, outstanding in the field of Jyotish.
