January 1st to January 31st 2017 |
| by Vachaspati Christina Collins January 1 Sun in Sagittarius in Purva Ashada nakshatra, Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius, Moon in Capricorn, Shravana, Venus, Ketu and Mars in Aquarius. Exact conjunction of Neptune and Mars (neo Vedic astrologers are very focused on this conjunction being negative, whatever house this is for your natal chart, or for a country chart will be one house affected, and anyone with planets at 15:35 degrees (or even 15) will also be triggered. Rahu is in Magha, the star of Ketu (this can be very spiritual depending upon which house in the zodiac is affected. Jupiter continues its transit in Virgo. January 2 Moon joins Venus and the other malefics in Aquarius. Mars moves well past the degree of Ketu breaking the months long kala sarpa yoga pattern. Mars takes 2 years to complete the circle of the zodiac so we a freed for a few months from the planets being trapped between the nodes for 2 weeks at a time. January 7 Saturn becomes technically sandi (changing signs or weak) at 28 degrees. At the same time, there are two tight conjunctions: Ketu and Venus in Aquarius, both at 1023 and Sun and Pluto at 23 degrees. January 8 Mercury goes direct in motion in Sag. January 12 the Sun moves into sandi position at 29 degrees of Sagittarius. January 13 the Sun moves to Capricorn (Makar Sankranti) this is the first change of signs of the Sun following the winter solstice and is celebrated as a holiday in India. This festival is often celebrated with sweets made of sesame seed, ghee and sugar. January 15 The Moon joins Rahu in tight conjunction not good for decision making, or travel if you have a Taurus lagna. January 16 the transiting Saturn hits 29 Scorpio sandi and the center of the galaxy. (this is a very tough point for Saturn who debilitates in Aries, the other sign of Mars) and Saturn retrogrades back to this point again in early summer January 18 Mars becomes sandi at 2900 of Aquarius. This makes the parivartana yoga very intense as Saturn and Mars (exchanging signs in each others houses) are both changing signs at the same time. along with this, Moon is still conjunct Rahu (though wide by degree), the Sun and Moon are transiting in a 6/8 axis, and Mercury, who rules the intellect is in Mula the star of Ketu. Basically this means dont take action on thoughts you have in meditation. What seems like a brilliant idea this day should be re-evaluated when the Moon is transiting with Jupiter in Virgo after Mars moves to Pisces. January 20 Mars moves to Pisces opposite friend Jupiter. This breaks the house exchange between Mars and Saturn. Note also that Jupiter has been transiting within a degree of Saturn. January 26 Saturn leaves enemy sign (Mars ruled) for neutral Sag. Saturn and Jupiter the ruler of Sagittarius are neutral to each other. Venus will also be Sandi at 29 Aquarius as it moves towards exaltation in Pisces Saturn will go direct, then retrograde, then retrograde back into 29 Scorpio in early summer. To date Saturn and Jupiter in mutual transit have been aspecting the sign Capricorn and the sign Taurus. With this shift of Saturn to Sagittarius they will mutually aspect Virgo only. Saturn aspects to houses 3 and 10 Jupiter 5 and 9 So Saturn throws its o 10th aspect on the Virgo house, and Jupiter is posited in Virgo. Jupiter will go sandi at 29 degrees next month on February 1st and will retrograde at 29 on February 6th. Later on when Jupiter moves to Libra, then the houses in mutual aspect will be Aquarius with Jupiter throwing its 5th trine and Saturn its 3rd aspect and the sign Gemini with Saturn throwing the opposition aspect (all planets aspect 1 and 7) to Gemini and Jupiter its 9th trine. January 28 Venus begins exaltation! The transit begins on Friday, which is Venus day. Mars, the planet of passion awaits Mars in Pisces, aspected by Jupiter. If you were on the fence, in matters of love, marriage or engagement, this day would be good for rethinking commitment depending upon the natal charts of those involved! Christina Collins Biography
