International Jyotish Kumbha Mela

My travels to Pennsylvania to speak at the International Jyotish Kumbha Mela at Arsha Vidya Gurukulam in Saylorsburg last month proved very rewarding. We met with many notables from India who we will be interviewing in the coming months, including Mr. J. N. Sharma who made his first visit to the USA who is a world renowned expert in Prasna, who uses the Tajika principles in Prasna experiencing great accuracy in predictions especially in event timing. Mr. A.B. Shukla, the Honorary President of the I.C.A.S. (Indian Council for Astrological Sciences). Mr. Vinay Aditya, the author of the famous book on Ashtakavarga Dots of Destiny and Associate Editor of Vedic Astrology Magazine . Mr. Rakesh Sharma (who teaches the beginning courses) gets great praise from us all for organizing such a wonderful conference with such a talented group of teachers and special kudos go out to Michael Sugarman and Simon Chokoisky for fascinating and well researched presentations.

I am delighted to say that each of these gentlemen have agreed to give interviews with the Jyotish Star, and I am sure you will all be looking forward to their life stories and wisdom.

And it was wonderful to meetup with my American colleagues, Ronnie Gale Dreyer, who recently received her Master�s degree in Sanskrit, and Joni Patry, both internationally known who gave brilliant presentations.

My experience teaching at the ashram was supreme. The students were, for the most part, very advanced students of Jyotish, many professional astrologers, and many who were engineers, medical doctors and lawyers, and very learned -- which was exciting and wonderful for me to be learning new things from my students as well.

The classes were interactive with many contributing their knowledge to the mix. Joni gave me a new slant on doing AstroCartography as well.

When I presented my research with mundane astrology and my article from the Jyotish Star on the Nepal earthquake using the Nama Nakshatra sounds, one student said, let�s do the sounds on another earthquake chart! So I had one with me of an earthquake in Tokyo, Japan in 2011. We looked up all of the degrees of the planets and their respective Sanskrit �sound�. Fantastic -- the sounds

To, Ki OO proved to be the sounds of degrees of three of the planets!

I urge everyone to attend this conference whenever you can, which is held at the ashram Arsha Vidya Gurukulam annually. The vegetarian Indian food was wonderful, the pine trees and essence of the environment, conducive to study and meditation.

Vachaspati Christina Collins Biography:

Christina Collins, Jyotish Visharada, CVA, Jyotish Kovid, ICAS and CVA, Jyotish Vachaspati, ICAS ,Jyotish Medha Pragya, ICAS and Jyotish Mahasagara from Raman and Rajeshwari Foundation 2015, is a third generation Astrologer specializing in the Vedic system. She received her honorary titles from the late Dr. B.V. Raman, former President of the ICAS (Indian Council for Astrological Sciences) in New Delhi and Bangalore, India, from CVA (Council for Vedic Astrology, USA),from the ICAS in Bangalore 2012, and from the Raman and Rajeshwari Foundation in 2015.

From1997 to 2012, she was the first and sole American woman to be honored by the highly held title of Jyotish Vachaspati (Jyotish - the light bearer and Vachaspati - the one who speaks the truth and whose predictions come true. (In Sanskrit, Vac = speech and Brihaspati is a name of Jupiter the planet of wisdom

and truth. Her most recent honor from India, the Jyotish Medha Pragya title, means that consciousness has merged with Jyotish.

As a founding member, she currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American College for Vedic Astrology (ACVA online), and was former Editor of the ACVA News.
