Very Venus

By Jyoti Devi Charlotte Benson

Very Venus by Jyoti Devi (Charlotte Benson) Some Thoughts on Venus and Associates, in Leo

You probably know that Venus (Shukra) is one of the main planetary indicators of both love, and money, our values, and our resources. Where we spend our time and attention; and who and how we find co-creators to fulfill our material wants. (Our wants, as distinct from our actual needs.)

Continuing with the concept of planets being life-coaches rather than puppet-masters, we might want to ask ourselves how best to collaborate with, and to somehow capitalize on, Venus rather special associations, this month of October.

Venus is now the morning star, leading a pack of planets in a lovely string of heavenly lights. I highly recommend getting up before dawn, to be dazzled by Venus rising in the East. The term awe-inspiring must have been coined to describe this sight. Trailing close behind, also in the sign of Leo are Mars, and Jupiter.

This is a special planetary combination. Venus is right in the mix with his (yes remember even though Venus has dominion over typically feminine issues, Venus is still a he since all the planets are masculine, all the constellations are feminine) complement, Mars. And is also with a so-called enemy, Jupiter.

Venus visits Mars this chemistry can be very entertaining and amorous. This current combo also implies that it may be appropriate to be more demonstrative about love, or affection, or appreciation, or respect all Venus productions. Why not? Hugging (with permission) probably encourages sattva.

Manly pursuits, sports, construction, real estate, agriculture technology, leadership, bold actions to get rid of negativity, applying energy to protect the weak, and to right wrongs these are the province of Mars. Mars benefits from the proximity of benefic Venus. Therefore, maybe one of the questions we could ask is: how to act boldly to achieve a win/win victory? Or: how can we collaborate with the opposition? Or how to combine hard-core mechanics with some soft-core creativity?

NASAs recent discovery of flowing water on Mars has created enormous media attention on the red planet. Even pop culture, via the current movie The Martian, has given Mars some ink!

Diplomacy could actually prevail over bellicosity during this period, at least through mid-October. Pope Francis recent visit to the U.S.A. was very well received. His Venusian message of actual agape type love, compassionate love for all; responsibility for and respect of the natural world; inclusion and integration this could be a popular rendition of Venus/Mars.

Issues of gender equality or lack of it -- are emerging more urgently while Venus and Mars have been travelling together. There is currently some interesting political discourse, in the U.S.A. between the sexes. Centering on Venus issues womens issues defunding Planned Parenthood; equal pay for equal work; female political candidates; education for girls, etc.

These broad cultural questions could also show up as personal issues, too, during the next few months. Women may act with more passion and determination. Men may be more receptive and conciliatory.

Venus and Mars together in the constellation of Leo is important. Leos best attributes bestow nobility, and honor, and generosity, and magnanimity. It might be appropriate for us to focus on integrating these traits into our own behavior, especially during this time. Why not adopt an attitude of dignity? Good manners go a long way, on the high-road! Consider the useful concept of having legitimate pride in something. Or being proud of your own self-efforts. Being a noble role-model, especially for children, can put us into alignment with the best of what these planets in Leo have to offer.

The less desirable instincts of Venus in Leo may appear as narcissism, or vanity so be aware of that, too. Venus is travelling with Jupiter which can actually instigate hedonistic impulses, even in people not naturally inclined, especially since these planets are being influenced by Saturn. There may be a better approach than Nothing succeeds like excess. There is a big difference between pleasure and happiness, isnt there? More on that in the next issue.
