The Jyotish Star November 2012

by Vachaspati Christina Collins

As we ready this issue for publication the east cost is struggling to recover from Hurricane Sandy, our thoughts and prayers are with them.

Once again we have a presidential election year, and the election is just around the corner! This months Jyotish Star is consulting Vedic astrologer, Gary Gomes of New Bedford, Massachusetts. I know you will all enjoy reading his in-depth interview with our correspondent Juliana Swanson of Hawaii.

It truly is fascinating how many astrologers also have a background in music. Edith Hathaway, last months star, Gary Gomes, (and I also have a music background, and both of my parents were musicians). Gary also submitted a wonderful article about his opinion on the outcome of the presidential election, predicting the probable winner.

As we wanted two different predictions, and their reasons why, we searched for a prominent Vedic astrologer with a different opinion of who will win? and were fortunate enough to receive two submissions, Vedic Astrological Outlook for October 2012 & Analysis of Mitt Romney's Chart and The U.S. Presidential Election Prediction, from Vedic astrologer David A. Goldstein, Ph.D. of
Austin, Texas. Dr. Goldstein will also be interviewed for the Jyotish Star in 2013.

Keep in mind; predictions of extreme accuracy are based upon precise and correct data. Both candidates have questionable birth times. Mitt Romney has a chart with the time based upon a relatives memory, because there is not a time printed on his birth certificate, and President Barack Obama has had several birth times out there even the time on his birth certificate in Hawaii has been questioned by many. And, I am speaking of astrologers not birthers, when I make this statement. We watch a persons life events and relate them to the dasa time periods that are in operation at any given time, along with the current position of the transiting planets over the persons natal charts houses and planets. When expected experiences, both positive and negative or filled with difficulty dont occur, consistently -- while being observed by many different astrologers you can take a pretty good guess that the birth time is incorrect. One astrologer even quoted to me look at President Obamas demeanor, hes funny, positive, gregarious, outgoing, charming, laid back, relaxed seemingly more Jupiterian . not exactly Saturnian describing the aloof, detached, cooler countenance indicative of Capricorn rising. This astrologer felt that President Obama was more of a Sagittarius rising in personality. Similarly another astrologer has made all of their mundane predictions for Barack Obama based upon a nurturing Cancer rising chart. (if the birth was am instead of pm and there was a typo on the certificate, then he would have Leo rising which also is a very interesting chart).

Either way, from the Surya Lagna (he has a Cancer Sun), and a Vedic chart can be read from the Sun as rising sign as well as from the Main Rasi Lagna ascendant or Moon (Chandra Lagna). So, for the Atman or souls direction (Sun is the significator of the soul,) point of view -- the Cancer rising does represent one of President Obamas ascendants. And of course, from the Surya Chakra (Suns position becomes the rising sign), he has ruler of the first (Moon, as Sun is in Cancer) in the 11th house of fame, and he won the Nobel Peace Prize in December of 2009. He was in Jupiter/Rahu/Jupiter (360) and Jupiter rules the 6th and 9th houses from the Sun.

November will bring not only elections, but another set of eclipses the last for 2012. One, a total solar eclipse and a rare exalted full moon eclipse on November 28th. Focus on spirit that day. Read November 6th in Planetary Tips. And, I have written an article on the Inauguration chart and its predictive qualities, The Direction of a Presidency or New Beginnings.

Decembers Jyotish Star of the month will be consulting astrologer James Kelleher, one of the first six in the west to receive the auspicious title, Jyotish Vachaspati.

We wish to congratulate the President of ACVA, Dr. William R. Levacy on receipt of his Ph.D. last week. Congratulations Dr. Bill!

Happy Thanksgiving from the Jyotish Star!
