Transit of Saturn in |
| By Vachaspati Christina Collins |
| Saturn will retrograde back into Scorpio at 29°59 (the weakest degree for a transiting planet) on the Summer Solstice, June 20th. June 20 Summer Solstice early in the day, Saturn will be RX at 00°00 then it moves back to Scorpio at 2929. This is a difficult transit, when a planet, especially a malefic like Saturn retrogrades back into the sign that it has already exited. The greater difficulty is when it leaves for the last time and enters Sagittarius on October 26 -- because it will be leaving Scorpio and will not return for 30 years. August 9, 2044 will be the next entry of Saturn into Scorpio. Currently, Saturn is still in Sagittarius (using June 1 the time of this writing) Soon, on the June 7th it will become very weak as the degree changes to zero. It will stay very weak and malefic until it retrogrades back and reaches at least 28°00 of Scorpio. Once Saturn Rx reaches 28°59 of Scorpio, though challenging, it will not be as difficult as it is no longer sandi. this occurs on July 5th. And that said, Saturn will still be in sadi sati with a debilitated Moon. Saturn in Sagittarius, Scorpio, Sagittarius All planets in Jyotish aspect house 1 and 7 (the house they are posited, and the house opposite), Saturn has an additional special set of aspects. The 3rd house from Saturn and the 10th house from Saturn. First you become informed of the house meanings: HOUSE MEANINGS Each of the 12 houses contain many meanings. A brief synopsis of some of these interpretations follows: House 1: The self, identity, personality, soul (Atman), physical health and the ego, and the physical head. House 2: Personal finances, earnings by individual effort, early family life, the face, mouth, and the throat. House 3: Creativity, courage, communication, younger siblings, short journeys, the arms, hands and chest. House 4: The home, vehicles, Mother, agriculture, fixed assets, emotions, education and the stomach. House 5: Pleasures, romance, children, intellect or mind, sports, speculation, meditation or spiritual practices, purva punya (past life credit), the heart and lower back. House 6: Sickness, service of dharma or life purpose, servants, pets, medical connections, enemies and litigation or war, and the intestines. House 7: Marriage, partnerships, contracts (business and other), the public, foreign connections, the bladder and kidneys. House 8: Misery, hidden things (occult), inheritance, chronic conditions, longevity, unearned wealth (inheritance or other peoples money), reproductive and organs of elimination. House 9: Religious nature, spirituality, long distance travel, the personal relationship with the Father, Personal Destiny or Dharma, the hips and thighs. House 10: Career or expression of life purpose, occupation, the manifestation of destiny, the world's view of the Father, and the knees. House 11: Prominent people, friends, cash flow and profit, shins and ankles. House 12: Losses, moksha, enlightenment or liberation, institutions (hospitals, prisons and monasteries), abstinence or renunciation and house of the couch, or bed pleasures, and the physical feet. Saturn in the Lagna or 1st house aspects the 3rd house, the 7th house and the 10th house. For example, if you have Sagittarius rising or Moon, the influence of Saturn affects your house of self (1), communication, younger siblings or brothers (3), your partnerships marriage and business (7) and your occupation or career (10) this can also affect your father as the 10th is 7th from the 4th (the spouse of the mother).
So, you will have these aspects based on the position of Saturn at birth. You will have additionally, the transiting aspects of Saturn. The transit result will be more pronounced if the nakshatra of the Moon (at birth or transiting) is in Pushya, Anurada or Uttara Bhadrapada who are the stars of Saturn and you were recently born (birth in these stars produce Saturn Vimshottari dasa at birth). Also more pronounced if you are currently in the dasa time period of Saturn. Next is the observation of what, if any, other transiting planets Saturn in Sagittarius or Scorpio will be aspecting. On June 20, in the example below using Lafayette (Boulder) Colorado, where I live, you will see that Saturn is 00°00 Sag and will be aspecting Ketu, Mercury, Sun, Mars and Jupiter. Saturn at zero is closest in degree (using an 8-degree orb of influence) to Ketu, Mercury and Rahu. As Rahu and Ketu do not have lordship over or own any houses, that leaves the Mercury ruled houses, Gemini and Virgo. In this particular case, the fact that Mercury is in Bhadra Yoga, one of the 5 great Maha Purusha Raja Yogas, this will take the edge off of this transit. For people with Sagittarius and/or Scorpio placements and Taurus and/or Gemini placements this will be particularly onerous. The mutual aspect of Saturn and Jupiter is also important to note: When Saturn transits in Sagittarius, and Jupiter in Virgo, the two will mutually aspect Virgo. What this means is whatever house number Virgo is, as counted from your rising sign, the affairs of that house and its meaning will be in play. In this example below, that would be the 1st house of self and health, and from the Aries Bharani Moon it would be the 6th house of enemies, illness and service to the dharma (life purpose). A few hours later, when Saturn transits in the sign of Scorpio, Rahu no longer aspects Saturn and Saturn now aspects Rahu instead of Ketu (which will be much more malefic than it was when Saturn was at this degree moving towards Sagittarius a few months back.) This time, Rahu is not supported by the conjunction of Jupiter in Leo. Jupiter now is in Virgo. So, examine which house from your lagna is the sign Leo, and the events of that house will be up front and center. The combined effect of Saturn in Scorpio and Jupiter in Virgo is now more pronounced, for they will mutually aspect two houses instead of one: Capricorn and Taurus. One good thing is that Saturn is no longer being aspected by Mars, though Mars aspects two earth signs, Virgo and Capricorn from its position in Gemini so we could still see continued earthquakes from this Saturn change into Scorpio (because Saturns dispositor will now be Mars instead of Jupiter). On August 25th, Saturn will go direct in Motion: Also take note that between September 11th, 2017 and October 13th of 2017 Jupiter will be in Libra and Saturn in Sagittarius. In that month (until Saturn moves forward returning to Sagittarius) there will not be a house or sign where they mutually aspect another sign or house. Saturn brings restriction and Jupiter brings expansion, so in a way they bring things into balance. This is a reason why you often find Saturn aspecting the planet Jupiter (or the other way around or both) creating a career of lawyer, advisor, or spiritual consultant, for the combined effect brings things into balance and focus. This 4-week period of time there will be imbalance. (the nodes will also be sandi) On October 13, 2017 Saturn will once again become sandi at 2900, the last degree of Scorpio. This will be the most difficult for this Saturn cycle (of 30 years, the length of time it takes Saturn to transit all 12 signs) It will be 30 years before Saturn begins to transit in Scorpio again. August 9, 2044 will be the next entry of Saturn into zero degrees of Scorpio. In addition, note the degree of Rahu, the planet of karma (what goes out returns) it is transiting at the beginning of its 18-month transit in the sign of Cancer, and will be aspecting Saturn in close to exact degree. Even though Rahu is said to act like Saturn, and Ketu act like Mars because of Rahus position in Cancer, the Sign of the Moon (Moon changes 27 times a month as it goes through each nakshatra) this Rahu transiting in Cancer has many ups and downs because it changes every day. It does help initially that the Moon is in its own sign of Cancer. (for the first 2 days) additionally, note the positions of Mars and Mercury below they are also sandi (unstable, going from one sign to the next) at zero degrees respectively. A very important assist is to focus on your spiritual and religious practices and beliefs. Saturn is the planet of focus. Scorpio is the sign of Transcendence and Sagittarius is the sign of Freedom, Liberation and happiness. And, send special love to your fellows and friends who have Scorpio rising or moon at 29 degrees. Saturn will return to Sagittarius on October 26, 2017 and will not return to Scorpio until August 9, 2044. Christina Collins Biography
