Total Lunar Eclipse |
June 15, 2011 |
| By Christina Collins for Jyotish Star June 2011 A total lunar eclipse will be visible in areas such as the Africa, southern Asia and Australia on June 15, 2011. This will be the first of two lunar eclipses in 2011 (the second on December 10th) and the third of all of the six eclipses that occur throughout the year 2011. June 15 2011 Total Lunar Eclipse The first total lunar eclipse of 2011 will occur in Scorpio, in Jyestha nakshatra at sandi position. Occurring in the gap between the signs Scorpio and Sagittarius at the recently notorious point Ophiuchus (the purported 13th sign). The Moon passes through earths shadow for an uncharacteristically long 100 minutes. This eclipse occurs at night in the eastern hemisphere. (We wont see it in the west, because it will be daytime here.) Note in the chart below, the Penumbral eclipse begins with the Moon, debilitated and full in Scorpio, beginning to exactly align with Rahu in Scorpio and Ketu in Scorpio at exact degree. As this 100 minute eclipse progresses, we will see the Moon sandi at 29° going into sandi 00° of Sagittarius opposite the Sun in Gemini, also sandi at 00°15. Penumbral Eclipse Begins: 17:24:34 UT Greatest Part of Eclipse: 20:12:37 UT Total Eclipse Ends: 21:02:42 UT Penumbral Eclipse Ends: 23:00:45 UT As you can see this years first total lunar eclipse will be total and occurring in the gap between Scorpio and Sagittarius. We all know that the exact USA chart is in question. The majority of people use either a Scorpio rising, a Sagittarius rising and a Gemini rising for the United States. July 1, 2011 Partial Solar Eclipse On July 1st we have a partial solar eclipse, occurring near Antarctica. Partial Solar Eclipse July 2011 Eclipse = 08:39:30.1 TD ( = 08:38:22.7 UT ) Four partial solar and two total lunar eclipses take place in 2011. This 4:2 combination of solar and lunar eclipses in a single year is rather rare with only six cases during the 21st Century (2011, 2029, 2047, 2065, 2076 and 2094). The first and last eclipses always occur in January and December. The dates and types of eclipses during 2011 are as follows. 2011 Jan 04: Partial Solar Eclipse 2011 Jun 01: Partial Solar Eclipse 2011 Jun 15: Total Lunar Eclipse 2011 Jul 01: Partial Solar Eclipse 2011 Nov 25: Partial Solar Eclipse 2011 Dec 10: Total Lunar Eclipse Nasa quote: http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/OH/OH2011.html USA CHARTS The main USA chart in common use by Vedic Astrologers is Sag. rising at an earlier time, than shown in our example below. The chart below has a slightly different time, and is based on the research of Vedic Astrologer Jim Kelleher. This is one of the two I personally use. To find out more about the many charts for the USA in use along with their biographical data: http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Special:AllPages/N First search on Nation USA and you will see the many charts in use. Note that most of these are calculated tropically, so you may want to adjust the time to sidereal mathematics for your research.
These charts vary and are based on various historical events related to countries. (I personally use both Kellehers chart and a Scorpio Lagna chart for the USA). We use these country charts for mundane prediction. Astrologers have current concern for world events that will be triggered in the USA based on these coming eclipses. Note that the USA chart has sandi Mars at 00°41 Gemini, and that the lunar total eclipse on the 15th of June begins at that position, then the transiting Scorpio Moon during the 100 minute duration of the eclipse moves into 00° of Sag. (forming the exact full Moon) also activating the Mars of the USA chart. Note as well that Mars is the Maha Dasa in play for the USA and Sun is the 2nd level Bhukti. One technique is to watch all transiting planets as they move into the degree of an eclipse that occurred earlier in the year, to see what transiting planet triggers, the eclipse point where the earlier eclipse occurred. When an eclipse occurs at 00 degrees or 29 degrees that means every single time any planet changes signs (already a weak moment) that triggers the eclipse path, that previously occurred. This lunar eclipse, and the solar eclipse on July 1st occur in air/fire. (though the lunar one begins in water as well with the moon in Scorpio). We will see the increase of fires in many places in the USA and the beginning of dangers associated with the air (airplane disasters, explosions, volcanic eruptions and the like). Another technique is to use the Varsh or annual new Moon in Pisces chart, and to observe the eclipses as they transit over this chart. Above, you will see that the lunar total eclipse now falls on the Taurus ascendant of the USAs Annual chart and on the 2nd house Ketu and 7th house Rahu of that chart. Although we expect an improvement in the USA economy by Autumn, it will not be totally recovered in this annum. (April to April), as the nodes, which we refer to as the karma of a chart are in the houses of earned and received wealth (2/8) axis in the 2011 Varshaphal USA chart, and 4/10 (fixed assets and career) from the Moon chart. Next years annual chart shows gains, basis for long term growth and much more stability with exalted Saturn and Jupiter in mutual aspect. though the Pisces planets are aspected by a very strong ruler of 7th and 12th, we will see changes in major policies in government in 2012. (the nodes are very close to the ascendant degree). Christina Collins Biography:
