Saturn Moves To Sagittarius |
| By Vachaspati Christina Collins |
| Saturn has now moved to Sagittarius, and will stay direct until April 26th when it retrogrades in Sagittarius staying in Mula, Ketus nakshatra. Then, on June 21st it will retrograde back into Scorpio, and into Jyestha the Star of Mercury. Saturn is the Planet of Focus and can be scientific in nature. Transiting over the two stars of Ketu and Mercury will produce a good environment for astrologers (who are ruled by Mercury) for research in Astrology. You very often see a connection between Mercury and Ketu in the natal charts of astrologers. Sagittarius Sun, Moon and Rising will be especially affected by this transit. It will also affect the oil commodity and its revenue. Saturn is the karaka (planetary indicator) for oil, and when it retrogrades in a water sign, especially Scorpio where it aspects Leo (gold) you will see the resulting increase in production and value in the financial markets. These same may dip with Saturn in Sagittarius.
Sade Sati is not bad in all cases, it depends completely on the entire chart of the individual, and also the annual chart (Varshaphal) should be considered. Key as well is to look at the binashtakavarga bindus for the Moon and Saturn, and see which has the most strength. Further, when considering Saturns transit, we also need to observe the planets and signs Saturn will aspect by its special set of aspects to houses 3 and 10. (all planets aspect by position and opposition or 1 and 7). So for Sagittarius that will be the signs Sagittarius, Aquarius, Gemini and Virgo. Next, we add the transit of Jupiter in Virgo to determine which house or houses the both Saturn and Jupiter mutually aspect. When Saturn is in Scorpio and Jupiter (who aspects houses 5 and 9) is in Virgo they mutually aspect Taurus and Capricorn. Now that Saturn is in Sag., they mutually aspect the sign Virgo. So, drum roll the main house in any chart to deeply consider is the Virgo house and whatever house number that is for you as an individual. No matter who you are, now is a good time for a check-up with your healthcare practioner or physician. And schedule a consultation with your astrologer for an in depth look at your chart and divisional charts to see how this new transit will affect you or your loved ones personally. As a consulting astrologer, I am finding that not only the people who annually ask for consults in January to get a view of the coming year (no matter what their rising sign is) are joined by many, many people who have planets in Sagittarius. Jupiter expands and Saturn restricts, so the Jupiter ruled people, especially those with Sag. placements or Pisces placements are feeling constriction, often over health issues, and increasingly over relationships where they feel their freedom is being restricted in some way. (so, hang in there, it will change in a couple of months when Saturn retrogrades back to Scorpio). When you are examining this new condition, dont forget to also check the navamsa and other divisional charts for the transit effects. Saturns Aspect from Sagittarius and Jupiters aspect from Virgo mutually aspect these Houses until April:
Note also that the USA charts most commonly used have either Scorpio or Sagittarius rising. We can watch the country chart for the effects as well. I use the Kelleher Sagittarius rising chart. Sag. is the sign of freedom with Saturn sitting there, freedom will feel restricted in any country with a Sagittarius Moon or rising sign. So we will wait and see what happens in the spring with it retrogrades back to Scorpio. Finally, examine the USA New Moon Chart. With the current tone of the country, I would really pay attention to this one. The houses in play with the mutual aspect of Jupiter and Saturn is house 6 (enemies) from the Aries rising, and house 7 (partnership) from the Sun and Moon in Pisces. Given the ascendant lord Mars in war with Saturn in Scorpio in the 8th we watched this play out in the election which took place before Saturn moved to Sagittarius. We can hope the return of Venus to exaltation will bring a soothing effect as Venus also will aspect the Virgo house for many months to come. (Venus leaves Pisces on May 30th).
