Saturn Exalts in Libra |
November 14th 2011 |
| By Christina Collins for Jyotish Star November 2011 Saturn will transit in exaltation from November 14th of 2011 until November 2nd of 2014! Exaltation defines as the house in which a planet feels most comfortable, and often produces the best results. In order of excellence: exaltation, own house (planet rules the sign), friends house (the ruler of the trines from that house position), neutral (the ruler of the house is not a planetary enemy) and enemy (the ruler of the house is a planetary enemy. The qualities of Saturn: Saturns conditions: Exalts in Libra Is in own house in Capricorn and Aquarius Neutral in Sagittarius and Pisces In a friends house in Taurus, Gemini, and Virgo In an enemy house in Scorpio and Leo Debilitates in Aries In Cancer, the sign of the Moon, the Moon has no enemies; however Moon (and Sun and Mars) are enemies TO Saturn; and sadi sati is formed when Saturn affects the Moon in any sign in a chart. (sadi sati means 7 and years the length of time it takes Saturn to transit through three consecutive houses), so in, or aspecting Cancer -- Saturn both stabilizes the sign, and restricts the movements of the Cancerian. Generally speaking, Saturn does not have the best influence on the luminaries, Moon and Sun. From Cancer Saturn rules the 7th maraka house and the 8th house of chronic disease from Leo, the 6th house of illness and the 7th maraka. Sadi Sati refers to the Moon Surya Sadi Sati refers to the natal Sun Lagna Sadi Sati refers to the ascendant or rising sign Lagna Pati Sadi Sati refers to the ruler of the rising sign and each receiving the 7 and year influence of the transiting Saturn. People with the Sun, Moon, Lagna and Lagna lord in close proximity by house will be most affected by this Saturn influence. Strength of the transit (or lack of) can be examined in the Binnashtakavarga charts. (we refer to Moon and Saturn or Moon and Sun if in surya sadi sati). The points in the Moons binnash must be higher, or at least the same as Saturns points in Saturns binnash, in order for the Moon to withstand the onslaught of Saturn. This is a way of determining which 2 and years of Saturns transit will have the most intense impact. We find this especially true, when Saturns points are higher than the Moons points. Points range from 0 to 8. The higher the points, in Ashtakavarga or Binnashtakavarga, the more strength a house receives. One helpful way to determine if a planet is friendly -- or an enemy is to locate the houses from that planets current or natal position. The rulers of the trines (1, 5, 9) are generally good, comparatively, the rulers of the dustanas (6, 8,12) can be troublesome and bring suffering. Good effects and suffering both arrive during the dasa of the planet, when another planets aspecting transit also stimulates the planet either ruling the house, or the planets in the dustanas by birth position. The houses 2 and 7 are marakas or death inflicting. I have always thought it interesting that the 7th house ruler can bring death in the time of its dasa, and that the 7th house also rules marriage and partnerships. Aspects: Saturn currently aspects Libra by position, Aries by opposition, Sagittarius by 3rd aspect and Cancer by 10th aspect. Saturn entering Libra begins the sadi sati for those with the natal Moon in Scorpio, and ends sadi sati for those with the moon in Leo. This is the general consensus. Some view the beginning and ending based upon the actual degree of the natal moon. Sadi sati begins and ends 45 degrees on either side of the degree of the moon in question. With this thinking, if your Moon is in Leo, the influence may not be entirely completed. So, the signs Libra, Aries, Sagittarius, and Cancer now receive a transiting aspect from an exalted Saturn. The house aspect will influence you whether natal planets reside in that aspected house, or not. If natal planets are in these signs, they will be influenced (restricted or stabilized) by Saturn in addition to the houses these posited planets rule. Additionally, the current transiting planets in those 4 signs, when aspected by Saturn will change the energetic influence. For example: In Aries natal (or prasna, mundane, or muhurta) chartsthe singular aspect of Jupiter the last few months while transiting in its friends sign of Aries will now be adjusted in influence. Jupiter expands, Saturn restricts. So, the sometimes childish Aries energy that lacks impulse control (get out of my yard, I hate you! one day, and you are my best friend! the next) which has been greatly (and sometimes manically) influenced by Jupiters current transit in Aries, receives a grounding, stabilizing and balancing influence from the additional aspect of Saturn. This influence initially will not be as apparent, until Saturn reaches at least 1 degree in transit and is no longer sandi. It will also improve as Jupiter goes forward in motion. It is currently transiting retrograde. Additionally, the Sun, though receiving cancellation of debilitation by association with an exalted planet (Saturn) will be sandi at 29 the next day, then sandi at 0 on November 16th. This solar ingress dilutes the power of the new Saturn transit for a couple of days. Most importantly the balance will begin returning to our lives, activities and world events. The extremes we have been seeing in mundane affairs the people against the powers that be extreme flooding in Pakistan increases in the number and magnitude of earthquakes will begin to balance. Houses that Saturn and Jupiter mutually influence will now once again be in play. Jupiter expands and Saturn restricts. So, when they are in position in the sky, to both aspect the same house, or houses, many experiences in life begin to become balanced again. Both experiences that are material and spiritual in nature. Prior to Saturns move to Libra, of the twelve houses or signs, there was NO house or sign receiving mutual aspect from these two influential giants. Saturn while it was transiting in Virgo aspected the signs Virgo, Scorpio, Pisces and Gemini. Jupiter while transiting in the sign of Aries, aspects the signs Aries, Leo, Libra and Sagittarius. Saturn as it moves to Libra, and Jupiter as it continues transiting in Aries mutually aspect Aries, Libra and Sagittarius. The shift of Saturn to Libra will impact these three signs in a positive way. Really, it will be overall good for everyone, especially as we have 3 signs now influenced by these two major planets, Saturn and Jupiter, instead of NO signs in mutual aspect! Because Libra is an air sign and Mars currently transits in a fire sign (Leo) fire danger will initially be higher than usual. (wind plus fire). Be cautious with fire around and in the home, candles, incense, cooking until Saturn reaches 1 degree and Mars leaves Magha nakshatra. (November 24th at 3:12:17 Washington DC for Saturn, and Mars leaves Magha, Ketus star on 7:52:20 on November 26th) Note, for the USA, this is over Thanksgiving weekend, so be particularly conscious when driving and interacting with others. Overall, one of the greatest things about Saturn, the great spiritual teacher, the planet of focus, who gives deep introspection and a scientific nature is that we will now have Sasa Yoga 8 hours each day. (When we have exalted Saturn posited in an angle from the rising sign.) Also, 12 days each month, when exalted Saturn is in an angle from the Moon. Great scientists will be born in the next 2 and years, and those who benefit from this transiting exalted Saturn (especially with the influence from Jupiter in Aries) will come forward with current answers and scientific discoveries. A very exciting time indeed. Remember, Saturn only exalts once, for 2 and years every 30 years! For the rest of us, take advantage of this Saturn to delve into the affairs of the house(s) it influences. The very best transits of Saturn occur when transiting house 11. (Be sure to count from your Moon chart or Chandra Lagna as well.). So, check out which houses Aries, Libra and Sagittarius are for you, both from your moon and from your rising sign, and know they will be the houses in influence for you individually. The sign deeply influenced will be Sagittarius. It receives the aspect of its lagna lord, Jupiter, from the good 5th house of Purva Poonya (past life credit), along with the 3rd aspect of exalted Saturn on the lagna. Additionally Jupiter aspects the Saturn and the eleventh house of gains. If the Sagittarius native also runs the dasa (time period) of Jupiter very good things can be predicted. (Health matters still need to be observed and attended too, with the nodes still transiting 6/12 (illness and hospitals) from Sagittarius. Saturn does well transiting in some of the upachayas (3,6,10,11), though not as positive in house 10 (because from 10 it aspects the 12th house from the lagna and can bring losses in business. This applies to Capricorn rising or Moon. However, in the case of exalted Saturn, this is the lagna lord, Saturn, transiting the 10th in exaltation which can bring very good results, depending upon the natal Saturn and the individuals current dasa. Aries Saturn transits the 7th (maraka) aspecting the lagna. It also aspects Aries, its sign of debilitation. It throws its 10th aspect on the 4th house and its 3rd aspect on the 9th . Taurus Saturn transits the 6th and aspects the 3rd, 8th and 12th. (this is all dustanas houses 6, 8 and 12) Gemini Saturn transits the 5th, and aspects the 2nd , 7th, and 11th houses. Cancer Saturn transits the 4th and aspects the 6th the 10th and the lagna or ascendant. (This is why we see the real estate market improving with the exaltation of Saturn). Leo Saturn transits the 3rd and aspects the 5th, 9th and 12th. Virgo Saturn transits the 2nd and aspects the 4th, 8th and 11th. Libra Saturn transits the Lagna and aspects the 3rd the 7th, and the 10th. Forming a type of transiting raja yoga, as ruler of houses 4 and 5 transits exalted in the ascendant. Scorpio Saturn transits the 12th and aspects the 2nd, the 6th, and the 9th houses. The later years of the transit will impact Scorpio more adversely, likely beginning when Jupiter leaves Aries for Taurus Sagittarius Saturn transits the 11th and aspects the 1st, 5th and 9th (the beneficial trines, which is one reason Saturn is considered good in transit from the 11th house). Capricorn Saturn transits the 10th and aspects the 12th, 4th and 7th houses. Note, that this is the lord of the lagna transiting in the strongest angle in exaltation. Aquarius Saturn transits the 9th and aspects the 11th, the 3rd and the 6th. Note, this is the lord of the lagna transiting the strongest trine in its exaltation, and aspecting three of the four upachayas (3, 6, 10 and 11) these are the houses that improve over time. (not as good when young as they are when you get older). Pisces Saturn transits the 8th and aspects the 10th, 2nd and 5th. This is a mixed influence for Pisces. Born with Saturn exalted in the 8th increases longevity in transit it is still, the ruler of the 11th and the ruler of the 12th transiting the 8th. It is vipreet (ruler of the 12th in the 8th) however the 8th (death) and 12th (losses) are still in play. The 11th house brings gains, it also can bring accidents and health problems. With the system of derived houses the 11th is sixth from the sixth. This is one reason why we usually have small accidents as children due to 6th and 11th house influences, then graduate to serving the dharma and gains in adulthood. This also explains an aspect of the upachayas houses. Generally the 8th transit of Saturn is not so good, and can bring unexpected expenses and chronic health problems. It helps if the Pisces Moon or Lagna in question is in Uttara Bhadrapada, the star of Saturn. Pisces should be sure to meditate (or learn how) during this transit, as it is an inward transit and can bring great spiritual progress. Taurus, Leo and Sagittarius should receive benefits under this transit of Saturn in Libra. For Taurus, Saturn transits the 6th, for Leo the 3rd and for Sagittarius the best, 11th. Enjoy this transit everyone. We will not have it again for thirty years! Christina Collins Biography:
