September 1st to September 30th 2015 |
| by Vachaspati Christina Collins We begin September with Mars conjunct Venus who is retrograde and combust in the same degree as the Sun, the worst enemy of Venus. Three benefics, Jupiter, Moon and Mercury forming Saraswati Yoga in Leo in the 4th house of education sits well as fall sets in and students return to school. Saturn continues in Scorpio, bereft of the good influence of Jupiter from Cancer, and causing all kinds of grief from water disasters to personal tears. Rahu and Ketu spend their last couple of months (they move in November) in Virgo and Pisces, so we will continue to experience water/earth disasters until they move to Aquarius and Leo where the karmic shift will bring Fire/Air experiences. And, its eclipse time again. We have the last two eclipses of 2015 in September. September 1: Neptune will be opposite the Sun, and closest approach to the earth for those of you who enjoy stargazing, this is the time of year to see this giant blue planet and where you have visibility, all night long because it is so very far from earth it will look like a tiny blue dot in most telescopes (unless you are viewing at an observatory). September 4 Mercury is 27degrees and as far as it gets from the Sun so get out your telescopes because this is the best time to view Mercury. Look in the West, just after sunset and you should be able to see it. One clue, stars tend to twinkle and planets tend to shine bright and steady. September 6 Venus goes direct in motion in Cancer, and still conjunct Mars a nice time for showering love on others. September 10 a nice Moon in Cancer with Venus and Mars makes the mind think of love and passion, and creating realities that you are passionate about! September 13 New Moon partial solar eclipse so close to the Sun it will not be seen in the night sky good for looking for galaxies and star clusters without the moonlight interference. Also even though only a partial solar eclipse -- you SHOULD NOT LOOK AT without special equipment. A partial eclipse looks like a bite taken out of a cookie visibility will be in Madagascar, Antarctica and the southern part of Africa. September 14 For two days, the Moon with be conjunct Rahu and Mercury and the Moon/Rahu is exact early in the morning. Moon rules the consciousness, Mercury the intellect and Rahu is shadowy so major decision making should be delayed until the Moon reaches Sagittarius. (Moon will be with Rahu in Virgo, then hemmed between malefics in Libra, then debilitated conjunct Saturn in sadhe sati) Mars reaches its sandhi degree of 29 as it begins to leave debilitation in Cancer. The orbit of Mars is two years so Mars will next reach its weakest state of debilitation on July 11 2017. This is good news for Aries and Scorpio people who are ruled by Mars. Times are difficult when the ruler of a sign transits in debilitation. September 15 Mars moves to join best friend Jupiter in Leo. As the Sun is also of friend of Mars and Jupiter this conjunction is very good for beginning new enterprises, new businesses and investing, depending upon your personal chart of course. Always remember that when you begin a new project or use an electional chart (muhurta) for any reason to check that chart also as transits towards your natal chart. Mars is very powerful in Leo, as it is yogakaraka (ruler of the 9th trine and 4th angle) and planet of power for the sign Leo. Mars negativity will be tempered a bit by the presence of Venus in Cancer and Jupiter in Leo, as he is hemmed between benefics in shubra ketari yoga. The conjunction of Mars Jupiter and the Sun at birth is classically found in the charts of surgeons. Expect some medical media, whether a great scientific breakthrough related to the heart or some death of someone famous due to heart failure(Saturn is also aspecting this trio in Leo). But only after Venus moves past the degree of Jupiter which will happen mid-October. A final thought important muhurtas for new business ventures, surgery etc are great with this Jupiter/Mars conjunction . . . but NOT between eclipses. Consult a competent astrologer please. September 16 Sun is sandi at 29 Leo as it begins to leave its own Sign of Leo. September 17 Sun leaves its own sign and moves into Virgo conjunct Rahu and exalted Mercury. A few hours later on the 17th Mercury goes retrograde. So, with the Sun changing signs and Mercury going retrograde (even though exalted) just a few hours apart, this is a day to definitely avoid unnecessary travel. We advise against travel when the Sun is sandi at 29 or 00 degrees anyway. Once the Sun reaches a degree of arc it is more stable and better for important decisions or travel. This occurs 24 days each year. Two per month. So Mercury going Rx (intellect going backwards or slowing down) coupled with the Sun not only changing signs but weakening as it leaves its own sign, and significantly the conjunction with a powerful Jupiter brings a Thursday good for inward contemplation, but not so good for the outward stroke. September 23 is the autumnal equinox in the Northern hemisphere and the spring equinox in the Southern hemisphere. This is when the length of day and night is equal and the Sun is shining directly on what is called the celestial equator (in the sky above the earths equator). (Seasons are opposite on either side of the equator.) Yep, the days are getting shorter, and darkness will come sooner (here in the USA). Fall is a time of seeing things ending. Leaves fall. It reminds us of how life is not permanent and encourages us to make hay while the sun shines! it is a time of inner reflection as we watch the cycle of life. September 27 Lunar Total Eclipse and full Moon. in Virgo and Pisces. This is also being called one of the blood moons that occur during Jewish Feast days and this one on Rosh Hashanah. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_Moon_Prophecy September 30 Venus moves to its enemy sign of Leo yet continues to form a nice Shubra Ketari yoga around Mars. Shubra means sweet. It is when a planet is hemmed between benefics. So sweetening Mars up. To understand this sweetening concept . . . when I was a little girl, I really wanted to go to the circus to see a real elephant in person . . . I have collected elephants since childhood, and Ganesha is my special connection. My father was very strict, sometimes difficult and in some ways overprotective as a Scorpio rising with Jupiter in the first, Moon in Cancer, Sun in Leo, Mercury exalted in Virgo, Saturn exalted in Libra power person. Mother told me, if you want to go to the circus, climb up in your Daddys lap, give him some sugar, (sweet love telling him you love him), and ask him if you can go to the circus. -- I went to the circus. And, he a busy surgeon, went with me. Never underestimate the power of Venus or Love and how it can assist Mars, Saturn Rahu and Ketu our major malefics! Enjoy the transition of season! (and the new beginnings for those receiving the Vernal (spring) equinox! Oh and a special p.s. I hope to see you and meet many of you in person at the Sedona Vedic Astrology Conference in Sedona, AZ in November!!!!! Vachaspati Christina Collins Biography:
