Planetary Tips

October 1st to October 31st 2015

by Vachaspati Christina Collins

With the last eclipses behind us, we begin October with Venus just beginning its transit of Leo, joining Mars and Jupiter. Mercury continues in exaltation though retrograde and in combustion by a degree with the Sun. Rahu continues in Virgo, with Ketu in Pisces in almost exact degree of Saturn in Scorpio. The sign of Leo will be intensified for everyone, with variance only by what particular house that happens to be for a given individual (and remember to observe also from the Chandra Lagna, making the Moon the first house and counting from there).

Leo receives the aspect not only of Jupiter and Saturn, (making it the house in play right now), but also the aspect of Venus and Mars by conjunction. This will increase ambition, passion about what you love to do (read The Passion Test by Janet and Chris Attwood) passion for your love (because Venus, the planet of love has just joined Mars and they will continue in closer and closer conjunction (by degree) with each other all month, as observed from the natural zodiac which begins with Aries. (Putting the aspects of 4 planets on the 5th house). This is the 3rd house of communication for the beginning of the month for the EDT time zone, and the 9th house of dharma (life purpose) for the Sagittarius rising USA (Kelleher) national chart. The intensity of the Saturn Mars mutual aspect all month will challenge tolerance and increase conflict, anger, fires, earthquakes. Meditation and flow of compassion is required of all of us. (at least do yoga and/or pranayama) or light stretching and walking if that is all you can handle. Walk around the block, count to 10, then take action. (Mars aspects Saturn from it 4th aspect, and Saturn throws its 10th aspect on Mars) the further Mars moves by degree the better it gets. When we begin October, it is still fairly close (Mars at 18 or 19 degrees should see improvement in this planetary war.)

October 9 Exalted Mercury leaves retrograde motion and goes direct in in Virgo.

October 10 to 13 Saturday, and the Moon moves into Virgo joining Rahu, Mercury and the Sun. This will be crazy making for the Sign Aries. Classical mental illness presents with Moon, Mercury and Rahu are posited in house six in a natal chart. (The Mind, the intellect, and the shadow of Rahu), and we add the Sun to the mix the ruler of the 5th in the 6th. So, this is not a good weekend to travel or make important decisions especially for Aries rising or Aries Moon people. Also, as this happens in the lagna for Virgo rising or Moon this is an important overall, take it easy time. Caution also in what is ingested, simple food would be wise. This four planet conjunction continues until Tuesday, October 13th.

October 13 to 15 the Moon will be in Libra, hemmed between malefics. Sun in Virgo, and Saturn in Scorpio. For three days while also being in sade sati (the 7 and year transit of Saturn, when Saturn transits 12th from the Moon, the house of the moon and the 2nd house from the Moon). So Moon in Libra has Saturn transiting 2nd from the Moon.

October 15 to 18 the Moon continues being restricted by Saturn for the next 3 days as it transits through Scorpio the sign of the Moons debilitation

October 16 at 14:34:32 the Sun becomes sandi at 29 Virgo, as it moves out of the sign nearing entry to its sign of debilitation, Libra.

October 17 the Sun moves to debilitation in Libra. Again this is a Saturday and we have the situation not only of a zero degree debilitated Sun, but also hemmed between the malefics Rahu and Ketu (sure, exalted Mercury is a few degrees closer, and Rahu is still taking on the energy of an exalted Mercury (Rahu and Ketu act like who they are with by conjunction, what planet(s) aspects them, and the ruler of the sign in which they are posited). Still we can expect some fireworks of some sort. The Sun is weak by Sign, the Sun and Moon in the beginning of the transit are BOTH in sade sati, the Sun is the depositor of Venus, Mars and Jupiter, (Mars and Jupiter are transiting in tight same degree conjunction), and to make it extra special (intense) the Sun will be in this situation for 30 days. Important new ventures, businesses, or travel for pleasure in particular should be postponed a month, or at least wait until the Sun has a degree of arc (about a day) and the Moon has moved to Sagittarius and receives that aspect of Jupiter from Leo.

October 18 to 21 The Moon moves to Sagittarius where it continues to be in a sade sati state, but becomes somewhat stronger as it moves into a friendlier sign, and receives the aspect (its ruler in Sagittarius) of Jupiter from Leo.

October 25 Sunday (another weekend of planetary challenge) the Moon will move into conjunction with Ketu opposite Rahu in the same degree. This gives us another flavor of Rahu, Mercury Moon (and Ketu). An assisting component is the fact that Mercury is direct and still exalted. With Venus and Jupiter (enemies in the Vedic thinking that Jupiter is ruler of the Devas (angelic realm wisdom and knowledge) and Venus rules over the Asuras (worldly realm wealth and procreation) In Western sidereal astrology (the system I learned from my grandfather in 1955 at age 7 -- yes, just had my anniversary on July 13, 1955 of 50 years learning astrology) Venus and Jupiter are benefics and their conjunction gives love, wealth romance and overall benefit. In the subtle realm of Jyotish when we see the difference in realms, and know the fact the Devas and Asuras are always fighting and at war a transit of these two in the sign of Leo the King who desires all the finest life has to offer will produce a tendency to overeat, over shop, over indulge in general. So take care, with Rahu (yes and good Mercury) in the 2nd house from this conjunction watch what you eat, and dont overdo it please.

October 28 Mercury becomes sandi at 29 degrees as it transit ends for this years time in exaltation in Virgo.

October 29 to 31 Mercury joins the Sun in Libra. Both now hemmed between malefic Rahu, and Saturn without the relief of exaltation, the Sun, and the planets transiting in Leo will be much more challenged.

Just a couple more months of roughness, when the Sun gets to Sag on December 16th work will not feel so hard and communicating so difficult.
