Planetary Tips

October 17th 2011 to November 15th 2011

By Christina Collins for Jyotish Star October 2011

We begin Octobers Libra debilitated Sun in conjunction with Venus in her own sign, and Mercury in Libra. Saturn continues in Virgo, as does Jupiter in Aries. Mars continues in Debilitation in Cancer and the Nodes Rahu and Ketu also in debilitation. By the 28th of October the Moon will also debilitate. These are tough transits. Often it brings challenge when the ruler (dispositor) of Jupiter transits in Debilitation. In this case, Jupiter is in Aries, and its ruler Mars is in debilitation in Cancer.

Whenever there is an eclipsed new or full moon, or a major malefic in close degree conjunction or opposition or aspect influencing the new or full moon it creates challenges until it reaches orb limit. An orb of influence is generally from 8 to 10 degrees. For example the recent full Moon on the 14th occurred at 24 degrees Pisces (the Moon) and the Sun was 24 Virgo. Saturn was 25 Virgo. So we can expect the effects of this malefic aspecting its enemy the Sun to last until the Sun has moved 8 to 10 degrees from 24. It reaches 30 on October 17th, then Moves to Libra. That is five degrees after the eclipse point of 25. Then is will take 5 more days (the Sun moves about a degree a day) to complete 10. So, we should see an reduction in the demonstrations and protests as the Sun moves farther and farther away into Virgo.

From its house position each planet aspects by position and opposition. Jupiter, Mars and Saturn have further Vedic aspects. We always pay attention to when they are exact by degree and aspect.

Jupiter aspects 5 and 9
Mars aspects 4 and 8
Saturn aspects 3 and 10.

October 17 the Sun moves into Libra, its sign of debilitation. This zero degree point has traditionally been troublesome. Two of the big stock market crashes happened with the Sun just moving into Libra. It is seldom good to begin a new business of venture with the Sun in the sign of Libra. There exist some good muhurtas depending upont the type of business. Generally an entertainment or creative venture would work with a Libra Sun. However, great care should be taken to cancel the debilitation, for example by placing the Sun in an angle from the rising sign or the Moon, or the Sun on a day when it is exalted in the Navamsa. This occurs around November 7th.

October 21 (Friday) Mars will aspect the Moon by exact degree in conjunction (Chandra Mangala Yoga). And Venus within two degrees of exact. This will be a very romantic conjunction as the Moon will be in her own sign of Cancer and Venus will be in own sign of Libra. Further, the debilitation of Mars in the sign of Cancer is temporarily cancelled in Neecha Banga Raja Yoga. Now, what is wrong with this picture? Nothing from the Moon chart. There is even a Gaja Keseri Yoga of strength (Jupiter in an angle from the Moon. Gaja is elephant Keseri is Lion, However in this particular chart, initially the Moon/Mars are in the 6th house from the Lagna of Aquarious. And, Saturn throws its 10th aspect on the 5th house of Romance. So, wait an hour for the Pisces Lagna, even though it places the Sun/Mer/Ven conjunction in the 8th

October 25 the Moon will enter 24/25 degrees of Virgo triggering the recent Full Moon and Saturn points of the 14th Full Moon, This happens on a Tuesday, which is Mars Day. If you have to travel this day, travel early before the moon moves into this degree at around 18:40 Eastern.

October 26 is the New Moon in Libra.

October 27 Venus becomes sandi at 29 Libra as she prepares to change signs to Scorpio.

October 28 Venus enters Scorpio, and the Moon debilitates in Scorpio along with debilitated Rahu, aspected by debilitated Ketu and debilitated Mars will aspect Mercury by exact degree, shown in the chart below. So we will have Rahu, Ketu, Mars, Sun and Moon transiting in debilitation. At least when the exact aspect of Mars to Mercury occurs the Moon and nodes will be in angles from the ascendant temporarily cancelling their debilitation. A bit later in the day Mars will become sandi debilitated at 29 degrees of Cancer aspecting Mercury, also at 29 degrees of Libra. This is generally a very difficult time for Scorpio ascendants and Moons. For the lord of the lagna is transiting in the 8th house in Debilitation

I actually think October 28th looks like a tougher chart than the famous/infamous 12/21/12 chart. Though they have some common ground as Venus will be in Scorpio along with Rahu and aspected by Ketu, and Saturn and Jupiter will be in 6/8 position (6 and 8 houses away from each other.

Saturn is the planet of restriction and Jupiter the planet of expansion. When they mutually aspect a house it brings a balance to the human experience.

Currently, Jupiter in Aries aspects Aries, Libra, Leo and Sagittarius, while Saturn in Virgo aspects Virgo, Pisces, Scorpio and Gemini. In the 2012 chart we will have a similar situation Jupiter from Taurus will aspect Taurus, Scorpio, Virgo and Capricorn. Saturn from Libra will aspect Libra, Aries, Sagittarius, and Cancer.

It is far more common for these two major influencers to transit aspecting at least one, if not two or three different houses at the same time. We will see Saturn exalt in November and when that happens they will both aspect Libra and Aries

October 29 Mercury will go from 29 Libra to 00 Scorpio.

October 30 Mars leaves debilitation and enters best friends house of Leo, where it aspects Venus, Mercury and Rahu in Scorpio. This Mars transit will improve when the Sun moves to Scorpio. Life experiences are often challenged with Mars in Leo, when the Sun, who rules Leo, is transiting in Libra, its sign of debilitation.

November 6, Saturn becomes sandi at 29 Virgo. This particular sandi is considered more auspicious as Saturn begins to near its exaltation in Libra. The Sun will be 20 degrees of Libra triggering the degree of the nodes at 20 that day. This is a challenging transit for staying focused. Be careful travelling.

November 10 we will have a beautiful full Moon in Aries with Jupiters conjunction. Be sure to look at it, you should be able to see Jupiter because of the proximity and brightness of the Moon.

November 15 Saturn exalts! Initially it will still be Sandi, and the Sun will be 28 degrees entering Sandi, but the presence of Saturn will temporarily cancel the debilitation of the Sun. (a debilitated planet, if aspected by an exalted planet is neecha banga raja yoga, or cancellation of debilitation.)
