Planetary Tips

May 1st to May 31st 2015

by Vachaspati Christina Collins

Okay, wish I had calm and peaceful things to say. However you say it. . . Mars is going to aspect Saturn (major enemies), for a while! Currently, Mars is in Aries, which is a very strong placement as Aries rules two signs, Aries and Scorpio, and is aspecting both. Which means it is in its own sign (very strong) and aspecting Scorpio its other owned sign. Mars also is Cancers yogkaraka and aspecting its friend Jupiter in exaltation in Cancer. This can cause increase in water problems, both in mundane (macrocosmic) and personal (microcosmic) experience. Twelve years ago, when Jupiter was in Cancer we saw many floods (macrocosmic) and many flooding home disasters (microcosmic).

Mars is also aspecting the sign Cancer (and is the yogkaraka (planet of power) for Cancer) and the sign Scorpio where Saturn (major enemy of Mars) is posited. This will be a difficult time for Cancer Moon or Lagna, and also the Cancer house for any individual chart.

Rahu and Ketu continue in earth and water signs of Virgo and Pisces, the Sun will be exalted for a couple more weeks, Venus now is still in its own sign, but will move to Gemini shortly forming a parivartana yoga with its best friend Mercury. Jupiter presently is in Sagittarius in Navamsa charts, until the 8th of May where it will change to debilitation in Capricorn. If you want muhurtas do them soon, or get them done before this change occurs.

May 2 Venus moves to Gemini and forms parivartana (exchanging houses) with Mercury. Also Mars becomes sandi at 29 Aries as it leaves its own sign for earth sign Taurus where it will aspect Saturn by opposition for about 6 weeks. This opposition will bring more natural disasters, as these mortal enemies form planetary war.

May 3 Mars moves to Taurus to form another conjunction with enemy Mercury and the Moon will be full though hemmed between Rahu and Saturn.

May 14 the Sun reaches sandi point at 2900 Aries as it leaves exaltation for another year.

May 15 the Sun moves to Taurus where it will aspect Mars, Mercury and Saturn, and be aspected by Rahu, Jupiter will exactly aspect the Moon, which is nice, but a few minutes later Mars will aspect Saturn by degree, so be careful travelling or hiking on Friday the 15th.

May 18 the New Moon will be a bit tough, with aspects from Mars, Mercury, Rahu and Saturn, but on a good note, the Moon will be close to 3 degrees where it receives high exaltation, and on a Monday, the moons day! Yet still in papa ketari yoga surrounded by Sun and Mars.

May 18 Mercury will go retrograde in Taurus and stay retrograde the rest of the month.

May 27th to June 3rd the Moon will be compromised, 3 days conjunct Rahu, 3 days in papa ketari yoga between Rahu and Saturn (and that is also sadi sati), then 3 days conjunct Saturn in Sadi Sati, relived a bit from Jupiters exalted aspect. Then begins to improve going into Sagittarius (yet still the ruler, Jupiter though exalted is in the 8th from the Sagittarius moon. This same situation continues month after month until the nodes move later in the summer. Then we will observe Jupiter in Leo conjunct Rahu in Kodanda Rahu for a year.

May 29 Venus becomes sandi at 29 Gemini

May 30 Venus leaves a friends sign to move to uncomfortable Cancer (for Venus)
