June 1st to June 30th 2017 |
| by Vachaspati Christina Collins Before we begin, note I am using my location in Lafayette, Colorado, USA for calculation because I get so many emails from Colorado students/clients asking when the full moon, or eclipse will occur. If you do not live in the Mountain time zone MDT, please access www.timeanddate.com for the equivalent time in your location. We begin June with the Sun in Taurus, in Rohini the Nakshatra ruled by the Moon. The Moon will spend a couple of days transiting with Rahu, improving by Friday as it joins Jupiter in Virgo, still Retrograde (where planets are very powerful) and in Hasta nakshatra, a star also belonging to the Moon. Nakshatra, star lord, personal star, asterism, lunar mansion are all synonyms and mean the same thing. Venus has reached a degree of motion which is improved, as she transits with best friend Mercury in Aries. Neither planet finds happiness transiting in Aries. This causes an energy of wanting things very quickly, and by things, I mean that Venus is the karaka (significator) for Love and Money, and with the parivartana yoga (exchange of houses) between Mercury and Mars this energy is increased. Mars is in Gemini, the house of Mercury (the planet ruling the intellect) and Mercury is in the house of Mars (Aries) this exchange of lordship will make even Kapha people feel Pitta and overheated. This exchange also affects the Sun, as its dispositor, Venus is affected by this exchange. And, of course, the Taurus Sun, ruled by Venus is in itself focused on love and money. Mars is in the difficult 3rd degree of Gemini (I have seen many disaster mundane charts, especially plane accidents occur with this Mars. This degree of Mars in Gemini also appeared prominent in cases of polio and post-polio syndrome in a large research I conducted in the past. So do your best to be patient, with others and with yourself. Do things to balance pitta like eating juicy fruits, dates, and rose preserves or rosewater. Stretch or do yoga before performing more vigorous activities. At least for the first 2 days of the month with Rahu and the Moon transiting in fire sign Leo! We still have an opposition of Mars and Saturn (in mutual aspect) and it will be about a week before this improves especially challenging for the Sagittarius sign (Moon, Sun or Rising) among us. Note that Mars is receiving the aspect of Ketu from Aquarius and is in very close degree to the nodes. We can see high winds, explosions, hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes under these conditions. June 2 Mercury will become sandi and weak at 2900 this is very close to the degree of Saturn as it retrogrades back towards 29 of Scorpio. Some support comes from the fact that Jupiter is aspecting both the Sun and the Moon which is healing in itself. (Jupiter is in the 1st from the Chandra Lagan (Moon rising sign) and this is said to heal a chart) June 3 Mercury moves to Taurus (as dispositor of Moon and Jupiter, the Gaja Keseri yoga is weak while Mercury is sandi (zero degrees) June 4 The Gaja Keseri (elephant/Lion) yoga of Moon conjunct Jupiter in a kendra strengths as the dispositor of both, Mercury gains a degree of arc. June 5 Mars leaves its own star Mrigashira for Rahu Ruled Ardra, one of the most challenging nakshatras in the zodiac. This gives a challenging slant to the planetary war between the two enemies Mars and Saturn who are still within the 8 to 10 degree orb of influence. Mars is in Rahus star and Saturn is in Ketus star. Mars aspects both Saturn and Jupiter, Rahu, in Leo, the sign of the Sun, aspects Saturn and Venus (the dispositor of the transiting Taurus Sun), and Ketu in Dhanishta, the star of Mars aspects Mars and the Moon (who is in Swati, Rahus star). Add to this the fact that Sun and Moon transit in a 6/8 axis from each other this could be a very challenging day. Dont make important decisions, or sign important documents. If you have Virgo rising or Virgo Moon, then Mars, Saturn and Rahu are aspecting your 4th house of Vehicles. This occurs on a Monday, so allow extra time for driving to work and look out for the other driver. June 7 Saturn turns sandi at 0059 Rx Sagittarius as it moves back towards Scorpio. Saturn will once again aspect Rahu when it finally moves back to Scorpio. June 9 Full moon, Sun in Taurus and Moon in Scorpio. This is a special full moon called Vesak (pronounced Wesak) and is celebrated as Buddhas birthday. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vesak. Also known as Full Moon Micro Moon - Apogee, when the Moon appears farthest from the earth. The Moon will look 12 to 14 percent bigger in two weeks at the Super New Moon (Perigee) June 9 Shortly after the Vesak full Moon, Jupiter will resume direct motion. This will remove some of the stuck feelings we have regarding a slow down with things Jupiter signifies. Marriage, children, money, spiritual knowledge, expansion and happiness. Jupiter is still receiving the aspect of Saturn (restriction), but Saturn is now unstable as it retrogrades without a degree of arc. Towards sunset (in Colorado) the Moon will move into Sagittarius conjunct Saturn in Sadi Sati (the 7 year influence of Saturn to the Moon) for a couple of days we will also have Chandra Mangala (Moon/Mars) yoga and this will continue for approximately 4/5 days. While Moon is in Sagittarius and Capricorn. The effect lessens in Capricorn as the Moon will no longer also receive an aspect from Rahu. June 13 Sun becomes sandi at 2900 (the last degree of the sign) the 13th and 14th are not good days for travel. June 14 the Sun changes signs to Gemini. Everywhere there will be a zero degree Sun/Saturn opposition. (they are great enemies) and the Moon (in Boulder county) will be zero degrees as will the rising sign. So, that is Zero degrees (called sandi or in the gap between signs) for Rising sign, Sun, Moon, Saturn, and the Moon is closely conjunct Ketu by degree. The luminaries (Sun and Moon) are both in Air signs. Additionally, Ketu aspects the sun and in a day or so the degree will be exact as the Sun moves into 1 degree of Gemini. I would suggest staying grounded and avoid flying. Also, avoid expenditures or big purchases this day and the 15th as well. (Secata yoga of Jupiter and Moon, where they are in 6/8 axis. (the houses of enemies and misery) June 17,18 and 19 Moon will be in Pisces, opposite its ruler Jupiter. The best of these is the 17th as Mercury (the dispositor of Jupiter) will be transiting from Taurus to Mercury and weak until the 19th June 18 Mercury moves to the last degree of Taurus at 29 June 19 Mercury moves to Gemini and its own sign. Because the Sun is in Gemini, this will be positive as the dispositor of the Sun will be in Bhadra Yoga. (Mercury in its own sign in an angle from the Moon, and the Sun, becoming ever more positive as Mercury moves out of combustion (within 8 degrees of the Sun). June 20 Summer Solstice early in the day, Saturn will be RX at 0000 then it moves back to Scorpio at 2929. This is a difficult transit, when a planet, especially a malefic like Saturn retrogrades back into the sign that it has already exited. The greater difficulty is when it leaves for the last time and enters Sagittarius. Because it will be leaving Scorpio and will not return for 30 years. August 9, 2044 will be the next entry of Saturn into Scorpio. June 23 New Moon in Gemini. Also of note, because of the elliptical orbit of earth, this is known as the micro Moon when the Moon is far away from earth apogee, and will look very tiny. The New Moon puts Moon in a weakened state (combust the Sun) and this new moon will join Mercury and Mars, all four in the difficult Ardra Nakshatra. Moon gains strength once it transits 4 or 5 houses after the Sun. June 28 Venus becomes unstable at 2900 Aries as it moves towards its own sign of Taurus. June 29 Venus moves to Taurus. It will strength on June 30th when it reaches 1 degree. Christina Collins Biography
