Planetary Tips

June 1st to June 31st 2013

by Christina Collins

Yes, we see Jupiter in Gemini! This will feel so much better to the people with Gemini rising or Moon. When Jupiter was transiting in Taurus, it was the ruler of the 7th house of partnership and the 10th house of occupation and business transiting in the 12th house of loss, hospitals, and ashrams. It is still a bit early with Jupiter still sandi. (sandi means just changing signs, and in a 30 degree equal house system (each house above is equal to 30 degrees, with 360 degrees to the full circle of the zodiac). Sancranti is the term used when the Sun changes signs. This occurs when the Sun resides at 29 degrees of one sign, and then moves to 0 degrees of the next sign. Planets dont reach strength in a sign until they have at least a degree of arc or reach 1 degree. So, Jupiter at 00°15 will take a little while to reach strength and a full degree because it takes about a year to go through one sign (and 12 years to go around the entire zodiac). The Sun, who begins June still in Taurus, will only take a couple of days to change signs and become strong at one degree in Gemini. So a planet becomes strong by degree, and strong by position (for example Jupiter is strong in house one, because it aspects (influences, called dristi which means to cast a glance) the good trines, houses 5 and 9 when it resides in the ascendant, either by birth in the natal horoscope or by transit as it continues travelling around the sun and through the entire zodiac. A planet also receives influence from the sign it is posited in or transiting through. Jupiter when in Taurus was in the sign of Venus who is not a friend of Jupiter, and now it transits through the sign of Mercury, also not a friend of Jupiter. So the effect of Jupiter in the first house will not be as stellar as it will be next year when Jupiter moves into Cancer and its sign of exaltation (best of the 12 houses for Jupiter to reside) and into Jupiters friends house Cancer who is ruled by the Moon.

Mars and the Sun still reside in the earth sign of Taurus. Two fiery planets in an earth sign will continue causing fires and explosion at the beginning of June. This is exacerbated because our two power planets for Jyotish, Saturn and now Jupiter both reside in Air signs Gemini and Libra. So, air activity will be on the rise. As the Sun changes to the sign of the twins (Gemini) the situation will become more creative explosive ideas, sudden insights, inventions creating knowledge and understanding. We can look forward to new discoveries explorations and less boundaries in expression both macrocosmically and individually. For now that the two planets each aspect the sign of Sagittarius Jupiter by opposition and Saturn by its third aspect or dristi events will come more into balance. Jupiter expands and Saturn restricts. When they do not each mutually aspect a house, then balance is less. And, on another note, if the USA chart is Sagittarius rising then Jupiter in the 7th aspecting the ascendant for the USA will produce a positive effect. There are many different USA charts in use. The Jyotish trend is to either use Sagittarius or Scorpio for the rising. You can go to www.astrodatabank.com and search on country charts and you will see many choices of charts for the USA. Be sure to convert tropical to sidereal mathematically if needed.

Mercury resides in its own sign of Gemini with its best friend Venus. With Mercury in the difficult Rahu ruled star of Ardra, it brings focus to the transiting Rahu which is in Libra still conjunct Saturn both in the air sign of Libra. Ketu continues in Aries which is positive as Ketu acts like Mars, and Mars rules Aries. (Rahu acts like Saturn, and is also good in Libra especially as Saturn is transiting in exaltation.

June 3 Venus changes Nakshatra to Ardra along with Mercury in Ardra. As many of you know, I am researching the outer planets in Jyotish. I am certain that they are players, and my grandfather who was a sidereal western astrologer used them as well. Note that as Venus changes to Ardra that Mercury, Saturn and Neptune will form a grand trine (where they are each 5 houses apart) and each are 11 degrees in transit. This looks like a very difficult transit to me as the Moon this day is in Revati, the last nakshatra and balarishta (changing from fire to water). So be careful with fire, gasoline and anything explosive around the water. Even boating the weekend before (this chart is a Monday) could have challenges.

June 4 Jupiter reaches 1 degree in Gemini.

June 8 New Moon in Taurus in Mrigashira. (Discover hidden treasure clean out boxes, shop for bargains)

June 9 to June 11 We will see a beautiful conjunction of Jupiter, Moon, Venus and Mercury in Gemini. Social indeed. Mercury (who is always seen in early evening or twilight, and never midnight) can be seen in the northern hemisphere all of June. You can spot it by first finding Venus to the west who will be very bright, then look to the right for a fainter star (smaller) and that will be Mercury. This month will be the last chance to see it with the naked eye (without a telescope) for the rest of the year. Dont forget to look!

June 13 The Sun will become sandi at 29 as it transits towards Gemini. Take extra care in travel.

June 14 The Sun moves to Gemini creating a nice Jupiter/Sun conjunction, and joining Venus and Mercury It will reach a degree of arc in strength on June 15th.

June 21 Summer Solstice for 2013 begins in the very early hours of the morning in the USA.

June 21 Venus is 29 Gemini

June 22 Venus is 0 Cancer

June 25 Mercury is 29 Gemini

June 26 Mercury goes retrograde at 29 Gemini and will stay retrograde until July 20th. So finish your writing projects early in the month.

Happy summer!
