Planetary Tips

July 1st to July 31st 2015

by Vachaspati Christina Collins

We begin July with the Sun in Gemini conjunct Mars, both in Rahus difficult nakshatra Ardra. Opposite is the Full Moon in Sagittarius, the 1st of the two full moons this month. Additionally Mars aspects the Moon causing Chandra Mangala Yoga. Jupiter and Venus will be exactly lined up in Cancer at 27 degrees and Malefics Ketu and Saturn receive the beneficial exalted Jupiters aspect. . .but not for long! On July 13th Jupiter will leave exaltation in Cancer for Leo. Saturn will lose the beneficial Jupiters aspect and Ketu will become more challenging in transit having lost the Jupiter aspecting both Ketu and Jupiters own house of Sagittarius. Rahu and Ketu transit on in Virgo and Pisces.

July 1 Full Moon in Sagittarius. 10:19pm EDT

July 3 Venus goes sandi at 29°00 Cancer this is the Independence Day weekend in the United States, and as Venus is the karaka or signifier of vehicles, please be very cautious in driving. Especially if you have Aries or Taurus rising. Watch out for other drivers.

July 4 Venus moves to Leo. Mercury will also become sandi at 29°00 at 11:33:59 EDT, take care with fireworks as Mercury enters an air sign on the 5th.

Have a safe holiday weekend.

July 5 Mercury moves to its own sign of Gemini at 2:59:09. Released from the restricting influence of Saturn mental clarity should return for many.

July 12 Venus will station at about 3 degrees in Leo, receiving the 10th aspect of Saturn in exact degree on the 14th. A good time to review what you love and value, as the apparent motion of Venus slows. This is a rare and special time, as Venus does not go retrograde every year and gives and opportunity to be objective about personal issues which are normally very subjective. this about a 40 day long period which has traditionally been used to go within, to enjoy your own company, to re-evaluate relationships, social contracts, your financial value system.

July 13 Jupiter moves to Leo Even though Jupiter, will be happy residing in Leo, as it is a friend of the Sun, and aspecting from the 5th from itself its other sign Sagittarius, and Jupiter will be now be held in check by the 10th aspect of Saturn. So we will have the situation where Saturn aspects Jupiter instead of the other way around.

Some authorities feel that Jupiter does as well in Leo as it does while transiting in the sign of Cancer for in Cancer it exalts in the sign of the Mother or Queen aspecting its own house of Pisces, and when transiting Leo, they feel it exalts in the sign of the Father or King and that it is equally strong as it aspects is other own sign Sagittarius from this position. My view is that it will be strong, but not as exalted as it is when transiting Cancer. The sign of debilitation for a planet is always the sign opposite the sign of exaltation. If the theory that Jupiter is as strong and equally exalted in Leo holds water, then it would also appear that we would have not one, but two houses of debilitation for Jupiter -- one in Capricorn, and one in Aquarius as well. Jupiters return to Kumbha every twelve years sparks spiritual celebrations (Kumbha Mela). I dont see a debilitation of Jupiter in the sign Aquarius.

After Jupiter moves the houses that Saturn and Jupiter mutually aspect will change from Scorpio and Capricorn, and whatever house that is in your individual chart to a mutual aspect on the sign Leo only. Saturn by its 10th aspect, and Jupiter by position. With Jupiter now aspecting the fire signs and receiving the Vata, dry restricting aspect of Saturn, we can expect dry earth, drought and increased fire hazard if it is summertime in your hemisphere. Beware of fire dangers. Individually whatever house Leo is from your rising or moon sign the matters of that house should be given more focus. For example, if you have a Scorpio rising and a Pisces Chandra lagna, then this is the 10th house of occupation from your rising, and 6th house of service to the dharma from your Moon. So expect to focus more on those areas of your life, including the downside of the houses.

Jupiter and Saturn when mutually aspecting Leo the focus will be on:

Aries rising5th house Children, investing, gaming, sports, mind, physical heart, meditation, love affairs.
Taurus rising4th house Mother, Heart chakra, home, vehicles, fixed assets, stomach, and education.
Gemini rising3rd house Creativity, courage, communication, younger siblings, short travel trips, the arms, hands chest and lungs.

Libra rising11th house Prominent people, friends, fame, cash flow and profit, shins and ankles.
Scorpio rising10th house Karma (expression of the Dharma) -- career or expression of life purpose, occupation, employment, and the knees.
Sagittarius rising9th house Dharma or life purpose, religion, spirituality, long journeys, father, guru, teacher or authority figures, hips and thighs.
Capricorn rising8th house Misery, inheritance or unearned wealth, Shakti -- spiritual or creative physical energy, chronic disease, longevity, reproductive system.
Aquarius rising7th house Marriage, partnerships (romantic and business), contracts, weddings, bladder, kidneys, liver, spleen, gall bladder.
Pisces rising6th house Illness, service to the dharma, pets, medical conditions, intestines, enemies and litigation or court related events.

July 15 New Moon in Gemini with both sandi at 29°09 degrees. Also Mars and Mercury are conjunct and within orb at 20 degrees. Also with Jupiter still sandi, this is not a good time for decision making or travel.

July 16 the Sun is sandi as it leaves Gemini

July 17 the Sun moves to Cancer

July 20 Mercury is sandi in Gemini at 29°00

July 21 Mercury moves to Cancer this placement is one of the most challenging for Mercury, and it moves into the sign of the Moon, the fastest moving planet, Mercury the 2nd fastest planet in this sign increases worry and mental unrest. Spend some time in yoga and meditation this week.

July 26 Venus goes retrograde in Leo

July 30 Mars becomes sandi at 29°00 Gemini

July 31 Mars moves to debilitation in Cancer, and now without benefic exalted Jupiter to protect it. Full Moon in Sravana 6:43 am EDT. This is Guru Purnima when we honor our Gurus and teachers so thank you to all of mine!

Enjoy the change!
