| By Christina Collins for Jyotish Star July 2011 We begin the Sidereal transit of the Sun moving from Gemini to Cancer just following the beautiful Guru Purnima full Moon in Sagittarius (a time of respect and gratitude for our Gurus or Teachers) This month begins with the Moon in cool Capricorn, Mercury in quickly changeable Cancer, Venus in great friend Mercury�s sign of Gemini, the nodes, Rahu and Ketu still at 29° in their sandi position of debilitation (as soon as they move another degree they will become a bit more positive. Mars transits in Stubborn Taurus, ever closer to the Ketu. As Ketu is said to �behave� or act like Mars, the warrior planet, their close conjunction on the 22nd will be like having two warring placements in an earth sign. Earthquakes are on the increase (another big one in Japan) because of this conjunction becoming closer and closer to exact.
July 17 Jupiter moves to Bharani nakshatra � the star of Venus. This should lighten up the heavier energy of Jupiter in Ashwini, Ketu�s star. Ketu currently transits in the sign of Taurus, its sign of weakness or debilitation � where it has to potential to do more harm than good. (Debilitation is always the sign opposite of the sign where a planet is exalted.) Below we list these planets in the sequence order they are used in Vimshottari dasa � and the order of the nakshatras and their rulers. i.e. Aries has Ashwini (Ketu star), Bharani (Venus Star) then Krittika (Sun�s Star. Also, this is the dasa sequence; Ketu dasa, Venus dasa, then beginning again with the Sun dasa.
July 17 Another nice harmonic with Jupiter now placed in Bharani � the star of Venus, is that Venus currently transits in Punarvasu, the star of Jupiter! Jupiter and Venus are the karakas (significating planets) for Marriage and Love. When they transit in a 3/11 axis (or sextile) and in each other�s stars, the harmonic for manifesting or finding love or a marriage partner becomes more promising. July 18 Mercury becomes sandi at 29°00 of Cancer July 20 Mercury moves to 00° of Leo July 22 Mars and Ketu will be the same degree of Taurus and they will become exact the next day. July 23 Mars and Ketu exact degree. Venus becomes sandi at 29, and Gaja Keseri yoga of Moon and Jupiter in Aries. (Gaja means elephant and Keseri means Lion � this is a powerful combination or Yoga involving Jupiter and the Moon). July 24 Venus moves to Cancer closing in on combustion with her enemy, the Sun. Mars becomes sandi at 29 Taurus (and Ketu leaves Sandi moving to 28 Taurus). July 25 Mars transits into Gemini. Note!!! This in my research experience is a very difficult day for air travel. Mars moving into an air sign, especially the air sign of Gemini can often earmark accidents. If you have to fly this day, travel early in the day when you have a rested flight crew, or contact your Astrologer about the best days for you to personally travel. This will be particularly eventful for those with Pisces rising, or Moon � for this is the 4th house of travel transit for that sign. There will be some positive assistance this day, from the transiting exalted Taurus Moon. July 26 Mars is moving about 1 to 2 degrees a day, so it will still be 00 degrees (weak) on the 26th July 27 Mars is joined by the Moon in close degree in Gemini. Mars aspecting the Moon increases bleeding (rethink elective surgery under this kind of a transit), and be careful to slow down your thinking when at play to avoid accidents to hands, arms and shoulders. Especially true for those with Scorpio rising or Moon. July 30 This is my LOVE PICK transit of the month. And it is a �date night,� a Saturday! Jupiter is outside of the nodes, Moon (the mind) is in its own sign of Cancer, along with Venus (how or what we love) and the Sun (the soul or Atman) Powerful, as they reside in Kendra�s (angles) from each other. Jupiter is 10th from Venus and Venus is 4th from Jupiter. And � they are all in the good (some say the best) star Pushyami (a handful of flowers). Of course the down side is that Mars and Saturn are in mutual aspect. So be flexible and low maintenance for each other! (The aspect is wide, with Mars at 3°31 degrees and Saturn at 18°14.) Use this angst energy of Mars and Saturn in Planetary War to your best advantage. To be brave! Approach the girl/guy that you are interested in and ask them out! Mars and Saturn are natural enemies � Mars says �lets act right now!� Saturn says, �let�s wait a couple of years, then decide�. One of the aspects of Mars is 4 houses away; one of Saturn�s aspects is 10 houses away. Mars in Gemini aspects Virgo by 4th aspect and, Saturn in Virgo throws its 10th aspect on Mars � this is called mutual aspect. July 31 Sun will be in shubra ketari yoga (hemmed between the benefics Venus and Moon � another good day for romance! August 3 Mercury goes retrograde in Leo, Moon is in Virgo (Mercury�s Star) in close sati sati with Saturn and in Secata Yoga with Jupiter. Do not make a large purchase or impulse buy on this day. Think it over a couple of days. August 4 Mars moves to the nakshatra Ardra (ruled by Rahu) and will be 8th from Rahu. This is a day to cool down pitta and to practice impulse control. August 7 Similar (if not worse) to August 4th, as Mars still resides in Ardra and it deposits the double debilitation of Rahu and the Moon transiting in Scorpio (8th from them) August 16 and 17 will be a very difficult Sun sign change. (and the 16th is Tuesday, Mars Day). As the Sun changes to 29 Cancer, on its way to its own sign placement in Leo (and into Surya Sadi Sati) Mercury retrogrades back from 00 degrees of Leo into 29 degrees of Cancer. It usually is a very challenging transit when a planet moves (retrogrades) back into a sign that it has completed and left already. Of course with Mercury the results will be quick and mental � stronger on the 17th, Wednesday. When a slower moving planet, such as Saturn does this move, it has a more profound effect � as it can stay at a degree for days and days! Christina Collins Biography:
