Planetary Tips

January 1st to January 31st 2015

by Vachaspati Christina Collins

Happy New Year 2015!

2015 Transits of Saturn, Jupiter, Rahu and Ketu and Mars.

Saturn spends the year in Scorpio, beginning and for all but 2 days in Anurada, then goes Retrograde on March, 14th, and direct on August 2nd. Moves to Jyestha on December 29th. For in-depth understanding of Saturn in Scorpio, we watch the transit of Scorpios ruler Mars through the signs of friends, neutrals and enemies, and also who aspects Saturn.

Jupiter begins the year retrograde (since 12/9/14) exalted in Cancer, goes direct on April 9th, and while in Cancer, Jupiter continues to aspect Saturn in Scorpio and then moves to Leo on July 13th (7:56pm) where it will stay direct all year and once again receive the aspect of Saturn from Scorpio.

Rahu and Ketu (the north and south nodes of the Moon who are always retrograde) continue in Virgo and Pisces all year (they move to Leo and Aquarius in January of 2016)

Mars begins the year in exaltation in Capricorn, then moves to Aquarius on January 4th ending the Guru Mangala (with both exalted) yoga until Mar 24th of 2039 though the 2039 opposition will last only a few days. Also, ending the parivartana yoga between Mars in Capricorn and Saturn in Scorpio. This movement also ends the exaltation of the planet ruling transiting Saturn, currently in the Mars ruled sign of Scorpio.

When the Moon is in Sagittarius or Pisces it will be in parivartana yoga with Jupiter in Cancer.

When Jupiter moves to Leo, then a parivartana yoga is formed when the Sun is in Pisces or Sagittarius.

January 1, 2015

We have a nice beginning for the year, the sandi (29 degree) Moon will be just leaving Aries for exaltation in Taurus (in Washington, DC) and the Sun will be in Sagittarius, and its ruler, Jupiter will be retrograde and in exaltation in Cancer (retrograde ends April 9, 2015), aspected by exalted Mars. Saturn will be in Scorpio all year, beginning in Anurada nakshatra then moving to Jyestha. Rahu and Ketu will continue all year in Virgo and Pisces. Mercury will begin the year, also sandi at 29°55 in Sagittarius, then quickly move a few hours later to its friends sign of Capricorn. Venus, yogkaraka (planet of power) for the signs ruled by Saturn (Capricorn and Aquarius) transits through Capricorn.

January 1 Mercury moves to Capricorn

January 3 Mars goes sandi at 29°00

January 4 Mars leaves exaltation in Capricorn and moves to Aquarius, no longer receiving the mutual aspect of Jupiter from Cancer and Saturn from Scorpio.

January 6 and 7 Moon will be in its own sign of Cancer with Exalted Jupiter Hamsa Yoga.

January 11 and 12 Moon will be conjunct Rahu in Virgo.

January 13 Sun goes sandi as it leaves Sagittarius

January 14 Sun moves to Capricorn and receives the 3rd aspect of Saturn, and the opposition aspect from exalted Jupiter.

January 13, 14, 15 Moon will be hemmed between Malefics (Rahu and Saturn) in Papa Ketari Yoga.

January 15, 16, 17 Moon will be conjunct Saturn. And receiving Jupiters aspect from Cancer.

January 17, 18, and 19 Moon will be again hemmed between malefics Saturn and Sun, in Papa Ketari Yoga.

January 20 New Moon in Capricorn (aspected by Saturn and Jupiter, Rahu, Mercury and Venus).

January 21 Mercury goes retrograde in Capricorn, while in a Shubha Ketari Yoga (hemmed by benefics)

January 21 Moon and Venus both sandi at 29 and conjunct. (Dont make important buying decisions today).

January 22 Venus Moves to Aquarius

January 23, 24, and 25 Moon will conjunct Ketu in Pisces.

January 28 through 30 Moon will be exalted in Taurus and aspected by Saturn, Mars and Rahu. I am making a point here, that although using the exalted Moon for important muhurtas (electional dates) this particular Moon is being hammered by major malefics so be cautious using it for important timing of events. (the Moon rules consciousness so these malefic planet aspects can cause some depression, dark thinking, or mistakes in understanding so wait a couple of days before making life changing decisions.
