Planetary Tips

February 1st to February 28th 2014

by Vachaspati Christina Collins

We begin the month of February with Rahu at 7°50 closely conjunct the Libra ascendant of 7°30. Saturn continues exalted and direct in Libra. Mars, sandi at 29°09 of Virgo (having moved out of Saturns exact transiting degree.

January 29th example of Mars and Saturn in the same degree:

I learned from my Grandfather to observe when any planet transits in the exact same degree as another transiting planet even if it was not a traditionally observed condition such as a conjunction (two planets in the same sign) or opposition (two planets diagonally opposite each other in opposing signs), in angles (kendras) from each other, or trines (5 houses from each other). He called this a trigger hit.

In Mundane astrology (The astrology of the world around us the charts of countries, kings, presidents, elections and dramatic events of force majeure.) the annual chart (Varshaphal) for the year is observed. This chart is cast for the new moon when the Sun transits in Pisces every March.

You can also observe the monthly chart for a country. So what you do is erect a chart for the 1st of the month for a country, using the capital of the country for location then observe this chart as the continuing transiting planets come into contact (if they do) with the planets posited in the monthly chart.

On February 7th the transiting Rahu and Ketu will conjunct the February 1st chart by exact degree having moved to 7°30. (Rahu and Ketu are always retrograde in motion).

February 4 Mars moves to 00°00 (sandi) Libra

February 6 Mercury goes retrograde in Aquarius and will continue moving back into Capricorn.

February 7 the Moon will move into exaltation in Taurus. Take care in the car if you happen to be on a road trip as this moon changes signs because yogkaraka (exalted Saturn) transits in the 6th (from the Moon) nearing sandi at 28°47, and located in Washington DC it is 12th from the Lagna and lord of the 4th from the Lagna. Add to this a sandi Mars so take your time, go slow. The good for this Friday is that Mars, the planet of passion, does well transiting a 6th house, and though Venus will be transiting 8th from the Moon (and lord of the Moon in the sign of Taurus) they both receive the aspect of Jupiter from Gemini.

February 9, 10 and 11 Moon will join Jupiter in Gemini both aspecting Venus the planet of Love.

February 11 Sun goes sandi at 29 Capricorn in a Kendra from its dispositor Saturn at 28°57. Tricky Tuesday, especially as Mars (though wide in orb by degree) also aspects this Capricorn sun. Still, Mars aspects its sign of exaltation, and that is good for the sign itself.

February 12 the moon will enter own sign of Cancer and the Sun will move to Aquarius. (This puts the Moon and Sun in a 6/8 axis for a couple of days dont travel if you dont have to and wait to purchase equipment)

February 13 Saturn goes sandi in Libra at 29°00

February 17 Mercury retrogrades back into sandi position at 00°59 Aquarius.

February 18 Mercury re-enters Capricorn.

February 24 Venus moves to 29°00 Sagittarius.

February 25 Venus changes signs to Capricorn and Venus is yogkaraka for Capricorn which is good for people with placements in Capricorn. When it first changes, it joins a sandi moon. At least it is very early in the morning and a weekday.

Happy Valentine's Day to all of our U.S. readers
