Planetary Tips

February 12th to February 28th 2013

by Christina Collins

Happily, Jupiter now goes direct in Taurus leaving its long 4 months or so in retrograde motion. Different theories exist on retrograde motion. Some say benefics when retrograde are there longer, therefore it is positive. Also, when malefics transit in retrograde motion, it is negative, as they are also in a sign longer. I personally feel that this is true, depending upon in what sign the planet is posited. If it is retrograding back to a sign who is a friend, it is more positive, than if retrograding back toward a sign of a neutral or an enemy. For example, the recent retrograde of Jupiter in Taurus, was back towards Aries, ruled by Mars, a friend of Jupiter. Conversely, when Jupiter goes retrograde in Gemini, it will not be as positive, as this will be retrograde motion back towards the sign of Taurus, ruled by Venus, who is an enemy of Jupiter. What is positive about the upcoming change this summer of Jupiter to Gemini, is that then Jupiter will be aspecting the exalted Saturn in Libra, and that, overall will be much better for the individual, and for countries, than the present situation where Jupiter and Saturn continue in a 6/8 axis.

February 12 The Sun moves to Aquarius It joins by conjunction Mercury and Mars. Once again for the next 4 weeks we will have the ruler of the Sun, Saturn exalted, and in the 9th house of dharma from the Sun. the entire month will be a good time to evaluate our jobs, businesses, careers and potential changes and choices in destiny.

February 14 Valentines Day should be sweet with Venus receiving the 9th aspect of Jupiter, and Jupiter in Taurus, the sign of Venus.

February 18 Saturn goes retrograde in Libra and will stay in retrograde motion for many months (July 8th).

February 20 Venus leaves Capricorn.

February 21 Venus enters Aquarius where it is still in parivartana yoga (exchanging houses) with Saturn.

February 23 Mercury will go retrograde (and the Moon will be 6th from it when this occurs. In addition, Mercury will be in close conjunction by degree with Mars. It will also be in the same degree as Rahu and Ketu. Be careful driving and travelling on this day.
