April 1st to April 30th 2015 |
| by Vachaspati Christina Collins We begin the month with the Sun in Pisces conjuct Ketu and Mercury. This is a very intuitive psychic balance, when Mercury (who rules the intellect) is conjunct Ketu, and Ketu is in good shape. The normal state of Mercury in Pisces is the debilitation house for Mercury. Pisces is two fish tied together, one swimming north and one swimming south. This creates an indecisive energy for the sign as a whole, and Mercury is especially disabled in the sign, making it hard to come to a decision. However, as we show below, Mercury has exalted in the Navamsa in Virgo and creating Neecha Banga Raja Yoga, or cancellation of debilitation. And this occurs just a few days before the next eclipse, a total lunar Virgo Moon eclipse on April 4th. Mars continues in its own sign of Aries the entire month. (Mars moves to Taurus on May 3rd) so if you have a muhurta from a competent astrologer, this transiting Aries Mars can be a good Mars for elective surgical procedures. Just make sure you acquire good advice of a competent astrologer and for the most part the Sun in Aries will be preferable. Venus, also in Aries starts the month and this combo in Aries is especially passionate. Jupiter continues exalted and retrograde (dont worry, it goes direct on April 9th!) and of course, Rahu is still in its 18 month transit of Virgo, and Saturn continues its 2 year transit in Scorpio bringing difficulties to that sign, and to Leos who receive its 10th aspect. The opposition aspect to Taurus and its 3rd aspect to Capricorn are more positive and Taurus is ruled by Venus, the good friend of Saturn, and Capricorn of course is ruled by Saturn itself. When a planet aspects a sign it rules, it strengthens the house. April 4 Lunar (total) eclipse in Virgo. (6:06 AM EDT) Full Moon Eclipsed globally, in the USA this will be a Partial eclipse. It will last almost 6 hours. Beginning at 5:01 AM EDT and ending at 10:59 AM EDT. The chart below is the exact full moon during the eclipse, which will be at 8:04 am in Washington DC. This is the 3rd eclipse of the lunar tetrad. A lunar tetrad is when four lunar eclipses happen in a row, about 6 months apart. (All of these total eclipses of the moon are called blood moons because the moon appears red when viewing as the suns rays first go through the earths atmosphere making the moon look rust or reddish colored. Perhaps this is one reason that Gomed or Hessonite Garnet is the gemstone for Rahu, the Upa graha shadow point that we term eclipse. Gomed for Rahus color in the Vedas is honey/blood/moonbeam or cows urine in combination. The four consecutive lunar eclipses began in 2014 and end this year in September. It is a good idea to meditate during an eclipse. As this one will be about 3 hours in duration, and not all meditate for that length of time, then reading scripture or chanting mantras is also conducive to fast spiritual progress. 1st April 15th 2014 2nd October 8th 2014 3rd April 4 2015 4th September 28th 2015 April 5 Venus becomes sandi at 29 degrees of Aries. April 6 Venus moves to its own sign of Taurus. When it first enters, the Sun and Uranus will both be 2223 which is unstable, as the ascendant will also still be zero degrees. April 6 A few hours later, Mars aspects Saturn by its difficult 8th aspect (8 houses away from its position), by exact degree. At least Jupiter aspects Saturn when this happens, soothing things out a little. This happens on a Monday afternoon in EDT. Take caution in making important decisions. Take your time. April 8 Jupiter goes direct in motion. Much better now for children, money, marriage and luck! Jupiter will stay in Cancer until July 6th. April 11 Mercury is sandi at 29 Pisces. April 11 Mercury moves to Aries and when it does, Saturn will be in the 8th in Scorpio in close degree with the Scorpio Ascendant. This is not so good, to have Mercury leave the zodiac and begin a new cycle of the zodiac by entering the 6th house. Mercury is the most unstable planet. (its orbit close to the Sun keeps pulling it into the gravity of the Sun, which is one layman explanation of why it goes retrograde so much.) April 13 Sun become sandi at 29 Pisces. (One of the most difficult degrees of the zodiac). It is water going into fire, (balarishta) and the most challenging of the three as it is leaving the zodiac as well and beginning a new cycle. April 14 Sun enters Aries (until May 15) April 17 Just before the new moon, there is a tight conjunction of Moon and Ketu. April 17 New Moon in Aries. With 4 planets in Aries, and the Leo ascendant when this occurs (in Washington DC) this brings a danger of Fires, increased War efforts, Volcano eruptions (with Saturn in the 8th from this stellium, also in the sign of Mars. The one reprise is the aspect of Jupiter to Saturn from Cancer. April 26 Mercury becomes sandi at 29 of Aries. April 27 Mercury moves to Taurus, its best friend Venus house. Mercury is much happier in Taurus than it is in enemys house of Aries ruled by Mars! Further, when this happens there will be a nice Hamsa yoga in Cancer with Jupiter exalted and Moon in its own sign. Just an early heads up, Mars moves to Taurus on May 3rd.
