Jupiter Transiting in Gemini with Saturn Transiting Exalted in Libra

By Christina Collins

Jupiter now transits in the sign of Gemini (inimical for Jupiter). (May 30 2013 to June 19 2014)

Inner planets basically have two sets of friends:

Jupiter, Sun, Moon and Mars (Ketu)

and

Saturn, Venus and Mercury (Rahu)

We add Ketu (who acts like Mars) to the Jupiter group of friends, and we add Rahu (who acts like Saturn) to the Saturn group of friends.

Jupiter expands and Saturn restricts. Jupiter aspects the trines from its own position and additionally the houses
5th and 9th from its position. Jupiter posited in Gemini aspects the signs Libra and Aquarius. The entire year (Jupiter takes approximately one year to transit one sign or to go 30 degrees in the equal house system) that Jupiter transits Gemini it will also aspect the transiting exalted Saturn in Libra. When Jupiter moves to Cancer, in 2014 -- then Saturn will aspect the exalted Jupiter and Jupiter will not aspect Saturn.. (And, people born around 1955 will turn 60).

Saturn takes about 30 years to transit the entire zodiac. Jupiter takes 12 years to do the same thing. So when you are about 30 years old you get what is termed your first Saturn return. This is when Saturn returns to the same sign and degree as your natal Saturn. When you are 60 years old you get both. Saturn again returns to its natal position, and at the same time your Jupiter returns to natal position. This birthday is quite celebrated in India as a milestone!

Saturn will transit in Libra (until 11/ 02/ 2014 when it moves to Scorpio. Saturn aspects houses 3 and 10 from its position. (All planets aspect from position, or the house they are posited it, and they all aspect the 7th house from their position called opposition). So, currently Jupiter aspects Saturn, and when Jupiter moves to Cancer, Saturn will aspect Jupiter instead by its 10th aspect.

Jupiter in Gemini is a vast improvement over the former 6/8 axis when Jupiter transited Taurus with Saturn in Libra. (6th is enemies, 8th is misery) also, in the 6/8 axis they do not aspect each other. Saturn and Jupiter deeply influence the houses they aspect, and when they mutually aspect a house (or sign) their combined influence puts extra emphasis on the affairs of that house for the individual.

Saturn in Libra aspects Libra by position, Aries by opposition, Sagittarius by 3rd aspect and Cancer by 10th aspect.

Jupiter in Gemini aspects Libra by 5th trine and Aquarius by 9th trine.

Currently, the transiting planets Jupiter and Saturn both mutually aspect the signs Libra and Sagittarius.

Houses are numbered one to twelve. The specific house in this mutual aspect, for any individuals or mundane chart, will have special focus and receive a balancing influence. Because Jupiter expands and Saturn restricts when they perform together -- things come into balance. Of course the influence is further flavored by other planets who may be transiting those same houses being influenced by Jupiter and Saturn. Jupiter is the teacher and Saturn gives life lessons. Their combined influence teaches us what we are here to learn, on earth at a specific time. This effect will be prominent for those with Libra or Sagittarius Lagnas. (from the Ascendant, the Moon, or the Sun ( Lagna, Chandra Lagna, or Surya Lagna).

The houses influenced for the rest of 2013 and what houses will be influenced for the individual or mundane chart:

SignLibraSagittarius
 HouseHouse
Aries79
Taurus68
Gemini57
Cancer46
Leo35
Virgo24
Libra13
Scorpio122
Sagittarius111
Capricorn1012
Aquarius911
Pisces810

Please remember that you have two main rising signs. The ascendant on the east when you took your first breath, and the Chandra Lagna, or your chart when read from the Moons position making the sign of your Moon the first house. Then, you blend the houses that will be in play for you in 2013.

For example, if you have Pisces rising and Aries moon, then a house 7, 8, 9 and 10 in your chart will be activated or in mutual focus. 7th and 9th from the Moon chart, and 8th and 10th from the rising sign. So the focus will be on partnerships, income/health conditions, dharma/life purpose and career/occupation.

  1. Self, physical body and overall health
  2. Self earned wealth, family matters, study
  3. Siblings, communications, sales
  4. Mother, emotional comfort, education, home, vehicles and fixed assets.
  5. Meditation, investments, sports, love and its affairs, children.
  6. Serving the destiny, accidents and mishaps, litigation, healing,
  7. Marriage and partnerships.
  8. Finances from others, inheritance, chronic health conditions
  9. Destiny, dharma and life purpose, Father and responsibilities.
  10. Career, job or employment (the outward focus)
  11. Cash flow, friends/acquaintances
  12. Expenditures, retreats, rest and sleep (the inward focus.
Of course, there are many significations of each house, the list above are some of the common indicators.
