Exalted Jupiter and Saturn Rahu in Virgo and Ketu in Pisces for Cancer Lagnas

by Vachaspati Christina Collins

For the chart with Cancer Ascendant or Moon, exalted Jupiter when transiting the rising sign or lagna can give sudden financial gains. From Cancer Jupiter aspects by trine the first house (Cancer), the fifth house (Scorpio) and the 9th house (Pisces) who it also owns. There always exists to sides to a coin so to speak. The material and the spiritual, the macrocosmic and the microcosmic points of view. Materially, this exalted Jupiter transit places focus on the physical body, the 1st house, children and creativity, the 5th house and life purpose and dharma the 9th house.

On a physical level, the self and the health of the self will need focus: Cancer lagna, as a water sign is often kapha with a tendency to retain water and to gain weight. Jupiter is the planet of expansion. Saturn, the planet of restriction also aspects the Cancer lagna. This should keep the health in check, but the mutual aspect of the two planets on Cancer will change in November of 2014. Then, with just Jupiter and Ketu aspecting the Lagna (considering only the slow moving planets, Saturn, Jupiter, Rahu and Ketu) great attention should be paid to health, rest, what you eat, etc.

Now, I must emphasize again. It is very important that we recognize that every chart is unique with many divisional charts, not to mention the other transiting planet that are often faster in transit. While the aspect of Saturn on Cancer currently is in play, the fact in the example chart below that Mars is creeping ever closer to the degree of Saturn, and the closer it gets the more irritated Saturn becomes, which will change the flavor of Saturns restrictive nature, as it aspects Cancer by its 10th aspect. Another mitigating factor is the fact that currently until mid-August (at this writing) the Sun is transiting the sign of Cancer. The Sun is hot, and pitta in nature astrologically. When it transits the ascendant, it can overheat the body and is considered a malefic transit. I cant state too emphatically that focusing only on Saturn, Jupiter, and Ketus transits will only give a partial picture and will not replace a consultation with a qualified astrologer.

On a spiritual level exalted Jupiter, known as Guru in Sanskrit can grant incredible spiritual gains and experiences for the Cancer native. Just make sure to add some exercise, stretching or yoga to your life this year, either for the first time, or picking it back up again at this time. Jupiter aspects the 5th house of the mind and mantra meditation, and the 9th house of dharma which represents the earthly father (parent) and the spiritual Father, Guru, Preceptor (our Teachers and religious study).

So, this is the year for Cancers to thrive and bask in the blessing of this Jupiter and Saturn combination for the possibility of great gains. Also consider when delineating not only what other transiting planets aspect Cancer but also what other natal planets always aspect the sign. This is one reason why I hesitated to write this series, because so many other factors apply. Because Saturn exalted aspects houses 4 (home, land, vehicles, fixed assets), 6 (health, accidents, litigation, service) and 1 (the self, the physical body) even with Jupiter in the first, it is still lord of the 6th transiting the first. Saturn posited in the 4th aspecting the 6th can bring accidents or difficulties with the home, vehicles or fixed assets. Due diligence is required before purchasing a new vehicle for the Cancer.

Having said that then the Ketu trine to Cancer can indeed upset the material gains. To lessen this tendency then pay attention to the Ketu who transits in Pisces in the house of Dharma and Life Purpose. Now is the time to re-examine the life path, to reinstate the dharma. Make sure that you are truly living your lifes passion. A great book and website that I often recommend to my clients is The Passion Test at www.thepasiontest.com . Even though I have been in my Passion for astrology and Jyotish most of my life, when I read the book and took the Passion Test, I realized many of the obstacles that I had put in my own thinking. I now take the Passion Test every year on my birthday, or if I change major Bhukti or Dasa time periods. (I finally have gone into Moon dasa, yea!)

So Jupiter and Ketus trine to the 5th is fantastic for meditation. Maybe you learned, then forgot to keep up with it? Nows the time to be regular in practice with the high potential of spiritual gains. Go Cancer!

Simply put for Cancer lagnas (rising, moon or sun) the 1st house gets the most focus:

Ketu will aspect Pisces, Cancer and ScorpioHouses 9, 1, and 5
Jupiter will aspect Cancer, Scorpio and PiscesHouses 1, 5, and 9
Rahu will aspect Virgo, Capricorn and TaurusHouses 3, 7, and 11
Saturn will aspect Libra, Sagittarius, and CancerHouses 4, 6, and 1

Pearls are the major gemstone for Cancer. If other factors in the chart do not disagree, a Pearl Mala is recommended, to wear in meditation. Shawn and Terry OSullivan is a good and reasonable source. (Where I got mine). www.vedicgems.com and here is the link to their interview last summer with the Jyotish Star. http://www.jyotishstar.com/interview-terry-shawn-osullivan-twins-june-2013.html

A golden natural pearl from vedicgems.com is one of my favorites. I also love the Moon talisman pendant they carry which is set in silver and could also be made in a ring or set in gold! Thats going on my Christmas list!

In November when Saturn moves to Scorpio, then we will have Saturn, Jupiter and Ketu aspecting that sign, and for the Cancer lagna, that is the 5th house. If Cancers become pregnant before November, it is highly recommended that you reach out to your astrologer for a consult and pertinent advice. Ideally before the first eclipses in mid-September in the sign of Virgo.
