| By Vachaspati Christina Collins Welcome to our new column on the Sign the Sidereal Sun transits on the first of the month, and how the slow moving Jyotish planets will affect the month�s sign. (Saturn, Jupiter, Rahu and Ketu.) GEMINI �This month�s column is for YOU! Gemini Jupiter aspects the 2nd house by position, the 6th house by trine, the 8th house by opposition and the 10th house by trine. Health should improve and earnings from career will expand. Choose healthy foods, there will be a tendency to overeat or overindulge or eat weird food combinations. (Especially after Ketu moves to Pisces and alone aspects Jupiter in the 2nd house by transit, and Saturn moves to Scorpio � no longer aspecting the 2nd house of eating food.) Jupiter transiting the 2nd house should make your face shine and your smile expand! You will also enjoy family life � and study. The mutual aspect of exalted Jupiter and Saturn dominantly influence the 2nd house. Jupiter expands, Saturn restricts � bringing 2nd house matters into balance. The second house will be the house of focus this year. July 1st we have the Sun in Gemini � so for Gemini�s (Sun, Lagna or Chandra (Moon) Lagna) the main house in play (with the combined aspects of Jupiter and Saturn) will be the 2nd house. Second is the house of earning (self-earned wealth), family life, of study, the right eye, the teeth, the tongue and the income or wealth from spouse (from derived houses, the 2nd house is the 8th house from the 7th house. The 7th house is spouse, and the 8th from the 7th is the partner�s wealth. While we are on the subject, this is a very important concept when looking for a wife, husband, mate or business partner. Examining their 2nd house is what your wealth looks like in partnership with them! Gemini�s should focus on their �bread and butter� job, their earnings, and on study. (The 2nd house is the house of study and the 4th house is the house of education. So those Gemini�s who also have an Aries Lagna or Moon and are in the appropriate dasa time period (ask your astrologer) � this is the definite time for exploring new or further education! Gemini�s who are married or who marry (and the charts are a proper match for wealth, again ask your astrologer) could see a great increase in the wealth of their wife or mate. Gemini�s also could come into prosperity due to a legacy or inheritance in the coming year. (for Gemini, Jupiter will be posited in the 2nd house and will aspect the 6th house (Scorpio) which is the house of serving the dharma or life purpose, and will also aspect the 8th house of inheritance (and legacy sometimes due to inheritance), and the 10th house, Jupiter�s own sign of Pisces. So focus in right now Gemini on getting started and discarding procrastination and avoiding interruptions. (Hard for Gemini�s who love to have fun especially in the summertime). Because ---- on July 13th Ketu will move to the 10th house, Pisces and Rahu to the 4th house Virgo (house of education) � and staying focused will be prime! (Rahu time periods with a natal Rahu in the 4th or a transiting Rahu in the fourth, can be excellent for education, the trick is to stay focused! Planet Key Jupiter moved to exaltation in Cancer on June 18, 2014 Jupiter will retrograde on December 7th. (There are many different opinions on retrograde motion of a planet. I subscribe to the belief that if a benefic is retrograde, then it is there longer and therefore beneficial. Also, in systems other than Parashara, when a planet is Rx then it also aspects the previous sign. I have also found this to be true. So, I feel overall that the Rx of Jupiter at the end of the year and into the spring of 2015 (April) will be very good for Gemini. And then we come to the thinking of the �Karaka rule�. Karaka means significator. There are planetary karakas � for example Venus is the karaka for cars and vehicles, and there exist house karakas. The 4th house is the house for vehicles. The Karaka rule is -- if the Karaka for a topic is located in the same house that rules over that topic, then the topic is denied. Some examples are Jupiter in the 2nd can make it difficult to earn, Jupiter in the 5th (house of children) can deny children. Saturn in the 8th (the house of death) can deny death and instead give longevity! If the said planet is in its own sign or exalted, many feel the karaka rule is cancelled. Having stated this, for Gemini, this 2nd house transit of Jupiter does embrace this �karaka� rule. So the likelihood of wealth coming from self-earning might be more likely wealth coming from wife or partners, including business partners for the next year. This would be a good time if you are not an astrologer yourself, or even if you are � to get a consultation on your current transits at this time. It�s a BIG year � ALL FOUR SLOW MOVING PLANETS WILL CHANGE SIGNS IN 2014! Saturn leaves exaltation in Libra for Scorpio on November 7th (a Sign ruled by Mars � and Saturn debilitates in Mars� other sign Aries � so in general, not nearly as good of a transit as Saturn in Libra). Ketu our moksha karaka planet (the planet that represents enlightenment � because Ketu is Rahu�s body � Rahu has the head, with the brain (intelligence � which is why it is good for study), and also, alas the poison . . .Rahu is a snake after all. Ketu represents enlightenment because moksha happens when you lose or no longer have ego � no brain = no ego). So once Ketu moves to Pisces for Gemini, it will aspect (by trine) the 2nd and 6th houses and the 10th by position in Pisces and the 4th by opposition in Virgo. Jupiter will aspect the 2nd by position the 6th and 10th by trine. So the 2nd and the 10th will be the two houses mutually aspected by Jupiter and Ketu. Until Saturn moves in November, Saturn will also aspect the 2nd for Gemini. The only mutually aspected house in play until Saturn moves. With Saturn in Scorpio, there will be TWO houses in Play. Scorpio with Saturn placed there, and Jupiter�s trinal aspect from Cancer, as well as Capricorn who will receive the 3rd aspect from Saturn and the opposition aspect from Cancer. Simply put for Gemini lagnas (rising, moon or sun) � the 2nd house gets the most focus:
Depending upon your chart as a whole, (and please consult an astrologer for a gemstone recommendation before you purchase something not energetically good for your chart � or you) some people will benefit by propitiation or upayas. Wearing the color or stone of Jupiter or Ketu. There are two schools of thought � one is to wear the stone most benefic to your chart � enhance and strength your strongest planets by wearing benefic stones only � pearl for the moon, emerald (for well associated mercury) diamond for Venus and yellow sapphire for Jupiter. The other thinking, is to wear the stone of the problem planets or planet � to appease it (i.e. feed the hungry tiger so it can�t eat you!) If you don�t/can�t consult an astrologer (expert in gemology) then please don�t try to propitiate malefic planet�s on your own. Including saying repetitions of that planet�s mantra. In other words � please do not wear a Ketu stone without being properly advised. For an example of who to consult, one of my favorite websites is expert gemologist Jay Boyle�s website. Ketu can�t see � no eyes to see, which is why the gemstone for Ketu is the Cat�s eye chrysoberyl � a form of emerald with a chatoyancy. For Jyotish quality a bluish stripe is considered best.
